Why do people still talk in farenheit? It makes no sense to me.

I hate hot weather.

I find people talk in farenheit when it's hot and celcius when it's cold. The cross voer point is around the 21C mark. Guess it's like someone saying something is 100m away but distances much more than that, they switch to miles, when it should be kms.

well... sidders, i still use farenheit because, here's a shocker, i'm in america! we still use it here! and we use miles!

celsius sounds more severe for cold temps and farenheit for hot. duh.

I don't understand farenheit at all. We still use miles too.

km's, i like them. i also like celsius, there's not much chance to use them outside the lab though.

we're decidedly antimetric.

I use miles - yet I can understand km's aswell.

Never understood Fahrenheit.

Lock up your daughters, David is back.

Well I came back from Norway the early hours of this morning. It gets better every year I go. We had very hot windless days. I think it was about 32 degrees celcius most days... which may not be as hot as places in England, but face it, a) coming from Shetland 32 degrees is HOT, b) we had better scenery and c) we had scandinavian chicks :P

Anyway - not a happy chappy to be back. But anyway, don't be sorry that it's over, be happy that it happend.

it is standard practice for science and engineering to use metric, the rest is "english standard", or so sidla won't cry "imperial".

Yeah after that slight * up with that probe that got kinda screwed after one team using imperial and the other metric.

English standard? Is that what you call it? That's laughable!! Standard amoung old duffers maybe.

Standard for most people in the UK. Ask anyone their height, most will give it in feet and inches. Ask their weight (and if she doesn't hit you) they'll give it in stones.

I'm trying to convert. I always think of my weight in kg but normally think of my height in ft.

we don't use stones, that's just some whack archaism so that when asked your weight it won't sound so bad. 20 stone isn't as bad as 260 lbs.

Good to know, thanks!
