Anyone else been to see this?

I haven't read any of the books, but I think I preffered it to the first.

There were a few sequences which looked a bit fake, but apart from that, it was very good. Three and a half hours we were in there for though, so make sure you've gone to the toilet first!!!

i watched the first one the other week an thought it was a bit dull. at least 30 mins of crap could be cut (the first 10 minutes is tedious). I think it could have been a good film but just missed....

The Two Towers is only 3 hours long so were you stuck with the adverts then?

You can't compair the first film with the second really as it's one story thats just broken down. They work well together and are very cleverly linked together. Even more so with the Special Edition version.

I totally agree with you about the way the linked together - even though its almost a year to the day (me and some mates went to see the first one on xmas eve last year, hance why we did the same this year), it could have been as if we'd just finished watching the first one. The synopsis and summary of Fellowship of the Rings at the start of The Two Towers led into it perfectly.

bearing in mind i slept for 50% of the first film, and watched the clock for the other 50% I am deffinetly not going to watch this one.

The first one, eeeek. Our school went to see it, and the chairs made your bum go numb. The opening bit was kinda cool, but then I got very lost and had someone getting yelled at in front of me. Then like david, i looked at the clock about every ten minutes.

I've never even seen the first one so im not really bothered about seeing the second one, not knida films im interested in.

I'll probably go and see it. The first one was good, but I prefered Harry Potter, but that's probably just my child like intellect.

The first Lord of the Rings film was far superior to the 1st Potter film, but the second film was a great improvement mainly to the special effects being a better standard. The second LOTR film is good to so I think this year they have been pretty even film standard wise.

Warning i'm about to be a bit geeky...... The reason Pratchett sells so well I think is that a lot of his books are thrillers or murder mystery with Science Fiction type characters. Its not out an out science fiction an the humour in them is brilliant along with little parodies of things from the outside world.....

Anyway books are always better than the film except Apollo 13 which is sh*t....

I just recived the Fellowship of the Ring for Christmas so I shall be settling down to watch it as I haven't seen it yet, then in a couple of days I'm going to see the Two Towers. I really like fantasy books, gets your mind working. Has anyone read 'His Dark Materials' trilogy by Philip Pullman. If you like fantasy I would definatly recommended going and buying them - absolutly fantastic! Robin Jarvis is ace aswell. can anyone tell I'm a bit of a book worm?

i was about to go to the toilet before the film but they were 10 minutes delayed for some reason so they decided to miss outr 10 mins of adverts to keep on schedule and the film started. after drinking my jumbo (1250ml) sprite i gave up and went to the toilet halfway through.

i didnt get LOTR on dvd but i did get the office, phoenix nights and peter kay live at the top of the tower. so ill be settling down and chuckling to myself all day

Um, the film was long?

I'm quite impressed though, had two drinks refills in Pizza Hut before going into the film and managed to keep the ol' bladder under control the whole time.

I'd recommend 'His Dark Materials' aswell. They are good books.

So I've now seen them both and I'm impressed. Not the best two films I have ever seen but the special effects were amazing. I had the extended version of the fellowship, an extra 30 minutes, it went on for a long long time! Two Towers was far better IMO, though I found if I did get bored at any point during the film there was always Elijah Wood and Orlando Bloom to look at, not forgetting the ones that played Pip and Aragon, there names escape me. Elijah Woods eyes are probably the highlight of both films to be honest! Minnie - love your Av!

Three hours is a nice length for a film I love long films, anything less that 2 hours is not really a film. The special effects in Star Wars are superior to that of Lord of the rings but as a whole film they look fantastic.
Lord of the Rings is a film to set the standards of films to come and like it or not it is going to be one of the legendry films of all time.

I hate epics. Lord of the rings was a dull book, and an even duller film.
Films like American Beauty have set the standards for the futre film maker.
