Does anyone know how to check if you are in "passive mode" in CuteFTP?

There is a certain server that I need to connect to and can't, I rang up this lunch time and they said that as the socket is connecting and it is failing after that, it sounds like I am in passive mode.

Can you help please?

Ta.

No, there is no Tools on the menu bar. Which version are you running? Mine is 4.0.19. If you can't do it, doesn't matter, thanks for trying!

That's WS_FTP.

In CuteFTP it's in Edit > Settings under the firewall tab (PASV mode)

Right, thanks everyone. I have just found out that's not the problem, 'cos PASV Mode is not ticked, so there is another reason then. It's just that the socket connects, then it can't get past that.

Well the only way you can trasfer files from one window (the left is your local drive) to the FTP site (the right) is by being connected to a server. You completly connected to the correct server?

Also, I presume your trying to upload files so you can view them on the internet. Is there maybe a PUBLIC directrory, usually known as "public_html" or "www"?

Well I thought I'd better not waste more space so here's a techy question I got... Do I have a virus?
Basically everytime the computer is re-started "My Documents" turns into a hidden file and I have not got a clue why!
Does any-one know anything I don't on this?

Stephen.

Or do what any sane computer user does and get a virus checker. A computer without a virus checker isnt worth using. You may not even be aware you have viruses. I went and loaded a virus checker on to a computer last month along at the local youth club and it had over 900 infected files. No wonder it was so slow.
