I've always wnted to hear the emergency dat come on to see if Daniel Beddingfield really does play, and it did! I wonder what happened, Chris didn't say.

Just went dead for about 30 seconds then Daniel Beddingfield kicked in. Quite funny. Chris didn't really explain what happened, he just blamed it on some bloke called Miles.

Miles is the studio resources person for Radio 1 (Correct me if I'm wrong here Aled/anyone else) and is respsonsible for booking the studios for people. It wouldn't really have been his fault, it's just that he's basicaly in charge of the studios so that's why Chris said to blame it on him. In reality, it'll be an engineering problem.

They said there was a technical fault with the desk - could have been anything from just the mics not working, or the whole desk having output problems, small electircal fault, someone pressing a wrong button, some random cable getting yanked out, etc, etc, etc - could be a million things.

The emergancy DAT (Digital Audio Tape) is at BH (Broadcasting House) where all the studio signals go to and there is a timer/sensor circuit for each "channel" (radio 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, etc, etc) so that if the station remains electricaly silent for a set amount of time the DAT will kick in.

it happened on jonathon ross show once and radio 2 played little lies by fleetwood mac followed by whitney houston and the greatest love of all. ross said that the crap music made them rush even quicker to solve the problem.

Now I'm gonna do a Sidla and "state the bleeding obvious..." There are at least two people in this board who, IMO know far too much about R1. Its an unhealthy obssession. Those two people? FD and David, sorry, but you two probably know more than their own techie bods.
