The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

well, is he dead? I am confused. the poor bloke has had a tribute to him and everything on ITV(who he was a reporter for) and they said he had been found in a hospital in Basra, yet the BBC are still claiming that he's just 'missing'. Which is correct? I really feel sorry for his family, who are getting these mixed messages.

Terry Lloyd

21.11.52 - 22.03.03

It is with great sadness that ITN has to announce that ITV News correspondent Terry Lloyd was killed in an incident on the Southern Iraq war front.

Terry was 50, and married with two children. He had just celebrated his 20th anniversary with ITN, making him ITV News' longest serving reporter. He was also the first correspondent killed on assignment in ITN's 48-year history.

We still have no further information about his colleagues Fred Nerac, a French cameraman or Hussein Osman, a translator from Lebanon. We are redoubling our efforts to locate them. Their families are being kept informed of progress.

The fourth member of the team, cameraman Daniel Demoustier, was injured in the incident but was able to get back to US and British lines.

It's really really tragic, especially since he was killed by American fire. It's incidents like this that's turning this war into a complete joke.

yeah but (good) reporters also help to ensure that both sides of the story are heard and that there is some independant voices in there....

Timb - War reporting is something which is thrilling and exciting but very very dangerous, as proven by this. it's not silly. I should know. Alex Thomson (C4 News) said in a recent conversation that this war would be a media war. Over 100 Journailsts a year are killed in worldwide conflict.

War Journalism is very very dangerous. I shall not be going into war reporting. I'm too chicken shit

you can do war reporting without going driving about on your own between enemies and allies. you need to pick one side and stay with the damn troops

I hate to name drop but Alex Thomson, who I spoke to recently, said that if they stayed woith the troops you don't get the full story. Terry Lloyd was one of those reporters who got behind the story.

Its all about being objective adn getting tht true story and not just being spun a line...

Looks like they could be leaving the MOI (Ministry of Information) in Bag'dad. This is where alot of the news reporters are.

Good to know, thanks!
