Wonder whose selling that then...wouldnt be you?

I like this though: "And if you're name is Dave, or you would like to be called Dave and you 'believe' you are funny, then Comedy Dave would be a great nickname and this domain name would be great to promote you or your work."

the lot doesnt show up if you type in "comedy dave" though so i don't see many people bidding.

Looks like David's bidding.

Is this legal? Surely it's cybersquatting?

if you setup a comedy dave interest site then no it isn't anymore than chrismoyles.net is. its when people register domains for the sole purpose of extorting money from the legal trademark owned that is called cyber squatting. however we all know how stupid the US courts are so you can't be too sure. http://www.nissan.com where nissan tried to sue someone for the domain when it was actually his family name and had been used in his business for a long time.

Squatting its called. Unless you own a site allready- hence boots.com is actually a fetish site and not the home of nations favourite chemist
By timb
#76529
even if you dont own a site when you buy the domain it aint squatting if you put up a site

http://www.feeder.co.uk is another example that i have probably linked to before

yep, they are trying to get him to give in just by making the legal costs as high as possible too

Forceing him out of business. That makes sense, rather harsh though. BTW, I wonder what this means: Image

Yeah - I thought £2.40 wont hurt :P but as the asking price is £14.99 - I wont get it, and I cant be arsed to pay that much...

As Comedy Dave doesn't own the trademark for that name, it's leagal.

lol, yes. I'd forgotten about that, his agent of the time tried to change it and couldn't.

Good to know, thanks!
