Time to get rid of the Trash Can and private forums methinks

Trash Can - serves as place where good threads gst lost

Private- is inactive time to close


My suggestion for a replacement.. the Foyer where visitors can post and bore us to death with crap posts and run in similar ideas to the trash can

I think it's alright as it is.

The trash can is there for trash posts, good posts stay in General so dont get lost and your suggestion is basically just renaming it.

The Private area is good as people can post topics there that are deemed unsuitable for a public board viewing. You dont have to be a part of it, go Here and Unsubcribe then you wont beable to see it.

Then all you have to do is put a sticker on your screen where it says 'The Trash Can' sayin 'The Foyer' or just imagine it and then you don't have to complain about the Forums any more.

Its fine yeah, but if a thread seems okay that was originally put in trash then it could be moved to General, like trashy posts in General are moved to the Trash Can.

Nah, the Private Area works as a good backup for inappropriate topics and a place to bitch.

I think what Jonny said is a good idea... In a way.

What I would suggest is, "The Foyer" which is anyone can post (kind of like a new "General").

Then have the sounds forum as it is where anyone can post.

Then the polls, site questions and private area should be registered users only.

Finally the "Announcements" is Chris posts only.

This is because guests only really post in General and Sounds so make them anyone and the others members only.

Guests can't post in the sound Forum as it is, they can't post anywhere.

So basically you're sayin, re-name General to 'The Foyer' and set the permissions so guests can post there, then having the private area as a members only section?

That's pretty much how it was before and because of the trouble with the the guests posting it had to be changed to how it is now. Recently Chris allowed guest posting and within a day or so they had been stopped again which shows Guests shouldn't be allowed to post.

Private area doesn't work. If its only to convey spitefull comments it can be done via pm. That area is dead. The only person that starts anything other than a winge in there is Bob

The good threads in trash should be moved...again lets see who's moderating and hire a ferw more mods.

Like i said above, if you don't like the private area unsubcribe from it then you don't have to complain about it.

I dont think there are good threads in trash, they must be in there for a reason, either the author thought it was a suitable trash can post or Chris thought it was and moved it.

Maybe having some moderators to moved trash topics out of General to Trash would be a good idea but last time it was suggested people didn't vote etc. and there was still no moderators.

Having mods is a great idea. The reason it didn't work when Bob was doing it was because nobody knew who it was and there was nobody to blame. If everyone knew who it was there would be no problem.

Yeah, people to blame, but constantly changing mods so that people can not abuse positions and privileges like what is happening in chat at the moment.

mcqueen's right. this thread seems like a load of whinging. if you don't want to read a forum, don't read it. i rarely if ever read the sound forum, do i want it binned? no. so simmer down.

but there are good threads which are lost in the poll threads and with the current state of the general board, there's a lot of good threads which are being trashed

i stick the trashy posts in trash that way i get responses, i tried with private but nobody replies and i dont see the point.
