i recently searched using wap google "chris moyles" on my phone and it came up with chrismoyles.net

now i was impressed by this. i know wap is only text based but looking through it had various links. one i found was to the reviews (radio). i was able to find out the latest news from chrismoyles.net - like the updates from various people etc.

now its unlikely many people actually look up chris moyles on wap but this is great for people who cant always look at the reviews using t'internet.

what does it take to convert your site into wap? is there anything you need to do? is there anyway of advancing this to include pictures from the site etc?

To write a site in WAP you need to know wireless mark-up language (WML), which is an XML application and is not the same as HTML.

You can do the pictures thing, but it will obviously look a bit sh*te in the old 3210s and rubbish like that.

I could put something together if I can find the time. If there's enough demand for something liket hat then maybe I will.

It is extremely similar however and easy to convert between the two.

If anyone uses dreamweaver then they do a plug-in type thing so you can create WAP pages in Dreamweaver.

most web pages can actually be viewed in wap with modern phones, however images are a problem as I think they either have to be a monochrome image or have a colour phone. I even found out this messageboard works in wap

Yeah - If I go to google on my WAP phone I can search for any page on the internet and it will display any normal html page, just without images.

I even got MSN Messenger working on my phone - but it takes ages to reply and it's a little bit sad... well infact, VERY sad.

You can set up the Erricson T68i from the sonyerricson website quite easily, unless you use AOL in which case forget it.

that kid pisses me off.

the thought behind that advert is that an 11 y/o can use a phone quicker than the person who's brought it.

Considering half the muppets who get phones don't know how to operate a dvd player, it's not surprising.

It was a general statement about people not being able to use simple bits of technology therefore not having much hope of something slightly more complicated like a mobile phone.
