As mentioned by Chris today, the Moped posse were indeed on the lash with Chris & Co last night. Even Will made an appearance, he's very tall you know! Just a few quick photos

That is Ant, our big 'bear' of a drummer, he looked more pissed on the photo than he actually was I think he

Actually its just a regular pub, I think the low lighting has given it a more regal, mahogany tone than it should do.

Yowsers my trousers it was a bonkers day, got the full tour of the hallowed radio 1 building (Dave Pearce has unusually large hands you know), Chris has an unfeasibly large stash of free carling next to his office desk. We were actually down in London to see Sony as our musical exploits (of Emmet rather than Moped) had come to their attention but we thought we'd kill two birds with one stone.

can you mime in the live lounge? not that im suggesting anything just miming on radio would be brilliant.

There used to do miming on the Roadshow.

I think they could do the vocals live (like I assume they do on tour) or do a quick mix like with that Glen Hunt guy. I doubt it, though.

yes but there were audiences at the roadshows... even if they were losers.

It would be so obvious if someone was miming in the Live Lounge though. There would be no point doing it.

how would it be obvious? some people dont change at all for live performances especially pop bands...

Maybe not obvious to you, but I can always tell.

looks like it.

as for the miming thing, i went to a one big sunday in bolton a few years back and louise was doing the worst miming ever...but when I got home and listened back to the tape of it (yes thats right I am that sad) you couldn't tell the difference. It's probably slightly different in the Live Lounge but I'm sure people could quite easily mime without anyone noticing...

That's exactly my point, if they're miming it obviously sounds exactly the same as the real thing. Surely it's not difficult to spot this?

Ah, but when I was in Wales we went to the R1 Roadshow in Rhyl (that beats MC for sad) and Phats and Small (remember them) sounded a lot like the version on the radio, but it didn't seem like they were miming, sometimes it is difficult to tell. The only way I think you can tell for certain is if the CD is scratched or something.

We did end up in the Live Lounge albeit for a cup of Radio 1 tea, it nestles between about 3/4 other studios in the basement. Got to sit in Chris' broadcasting chair (ooh the power) Dave gave us the full Radio 1 tour, newsbeat offices the works. Actually, you'd think the Newsbeat offices would just be two people getting all the storys off teletext but its quite big. Of course once Graeme gets his arse into gear and sends me some more pics I can post 'em up here.

And something tells me that Moped may well be back on the show before too long....hint

why did they say they were desperate for material? nah.. they seem to be making a bit of effort recently...

Good to know, thanks!
