personal statements are some of the lamest things to write or read. only people who are arrogant and self obsessed can sincerely write a decent one. i have to start writing a bunch of them, it's going to be pain.

i had to write one to apply to study abroad.
i have to write one for some fellowships i'm applying for.
i have to write some for my grad school aps.
seems simple enough.

personal statement should always be hard to write - it is hard to be really big headed without sounding like it! The thing is, theres HUNDREDS of people who want to get onto the same thing as you and, unfortunatly, not hundreds of places.

You really have to "big yourself up" - you ahve to make them read it and think "wow, thie person has got what we want" and however arrogant you feel when youre writing it, it really does need to be something that shouts out "HEY! LOOK AT ME! I'M GREAT!"
