The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

Well, after what feels like forever, we're almost at the end of an era.
While I'm sure the show will be very good in the breakfast slot, I can't help but think that it will be a bit different compared to the afternoon shows.

Although the team are only looking forwards, I think it would be nice to look back at some of the best shows the team have ever done.

I think the funniest show I ever heard was back in early summer 2000, back in the days of Producer Rhys and Melinda.
Chris started insulting Rhys which was really getting on Rhys' nerves. These insults then extended to Melinda as well. I can't remember what the insults were about (it was 3.5 years ago) but I remember it was very very funny.
After quite a while, Rhys got so mad that he stormed out of the studio. Not long afterwards, Melinda did the same, kicking the door as he went out in anger. To add to the comedy, Dave then decided to take the p*ss and also pretended to walk out, loudly kicking the door on the way.

For the next 10 minutes or so, Chris was on his own. He did something stupid and then played a few records. It was then time for the news and after this, Dave was back. For the remainder of the show (I think it was the 5:00 news) it was just Chris and Dave.

I wish I could remember what it was that started the insults. Between them and the walkouts, I was in tears of laughter.

I remember the next day I was away for the day but made sure I was near a radio for the start of the show to see if the whole team were back.

I don't know how much of what happened was genuine and if any of it was planned, but it was very funny.

May be it was just me that found this show funny (and may be the fact that half the team actually walked out made it more memorable than others), but I think this was the funniest show I've heard.

Anyone else remember this show?
Anyone remember a show that they found the funniest?

I can remeber Dave walking out and kicking the door but can't remeber anything else. I'll check if its in the sound vault.

The "I Look like Wayne Sleep....Get Me Out of Here!" show was a classic, Aleds screaming was legendary. Also, Chris's many impressions are spot on, especially the Local Radio DJ ones, POPADOODLEDOO!!!!

I remember I looked before but didn't think this clip was it - because it was dated a year late (or may be I'm mixed up with the year) and also because the clip name sounds like the whole team walks out (although, listening to it now, Chris does also say he is going.) At the time it seemed like the file was big (7 megs) so I never did get it, but that was back in the 56k days :D .

Sort of wishing I hadn't downloaded the clip - it's not half as funny as I remembered. The whole arguement is a lot shorter than I thought it was.
I suppose it was a lot funnier when I heard it live (as it happened) and hence didn't know what was happening next.

Was it in 2000 or 2001? The clip was posted in 2001 and it seems a bit of a long wait to post it nearly a year later.

I'm near certain it was 2000. The reason I'm so certain is because of the fact that I remember being away to a certain event the next day and wanting to hear what happened. That event was in 2000.

Also, it was posted in the start of April. Again refering to said event, I think this show would have been on at least at the end of April, more likely into May.

It was all set up I'm sure. The Cheese Song was the best bit ever IMO, but that was the Saturday show. I thought the shows were better when they only used to be 2 hours long. Some of the David the Photographer moments were classic.

I remember a classic show about a year ago when there was an Eminiem competition on the Breakfast Show. People had to sing one of his songs and there was soundbites of Westwood judging them: "Get a taxi and go home!", "FLAVA!", "Go home to mother!", "Stick a fork in it!" etc. Chris got a hold of all of them and was pretending to have conversations with him and stuff:
Chris: "Dave what did you have for lunch today"
Dave: "A sandwitch"
Chris with Westwood soundbite: "FLAVA!"

and:
Chris: "What do you do to eat a sausage?"
Will: "I dunno"
Chris with Westwood soundbite" Stick a fork in it!"

It was very funny. I also remember when the Dreem Teem did a radio advert for Freeview and Chris and Dave took the piss and made up their own version, complete with Saaf London accents:

Dave: "I heard that it only costs 99 paaaands"

Lol.

ye of little faith. I think it'll be better at breakfast. So many best bits to choose from on afternoons. How do people think the show should end tomorrow and what should be the last tedious link?

I've also got a feeling Stanta might be played at some point..

well mark and lard and whiley won't be working as their kids will be on xmas holidays. coxy will probably be on live and i'm guessing you'll be pre-recorded aled cos i think chris said the other day that he is going back home to leeds for xmas.

i hope there will still be room over xmas for a few scott mills and vicky marsden marathon shifts though. it's tradition...

ha. are these djs the underdogs of national radio? they seem to get the worse time slots in the world, now im sure there not moaning as there probably get plenty of money for doing the shows - its just why on earth put them there when they sound so good?!

aren't most of the shows pre-recorded? if not - i wouldnt be keen on going in on christmas day unless i was getting a far bit back money wise...
