Radio 1 signs 'new Ant and Dec'

BBC Radio 1 has signed up Manchester DJ duo JK and Joel to host a new weekend show.
The pair, who have been compared to ITV hosts Ant and Dec, will take over in the summer.

They currently present the breakfast show on Manchester station Key 103.

The duo are tipped to replace either the Colin Murray and Edith Bowman double act or Scott Mills, one of whom will move to drivetime to cover Sara Cox's maternity leave.

This is excellent news!!! Most people won't have a clue who they are but trust me they are great. Until Moyles started on breakfast I used to listen to them every day and I think this is the best thing that could have happened to them. They had been at Key for 3+ years and sounded like they needed a new challenge.

When they first joined to present the breakfast show I was a bit sceptical but after a few weeks you'll come to like them. JK is from the west country and Joel is from Scarborough.

I agree with MC i'm a dirty manc myself who thought he had the day sussed till moyles move to brekky....i was cheered and geared with JK and JOEL at brekky and wound down with Chris and the gang..ready for an after work pint...then it all went pear shaped ant the best talent in the uk both had the same slots..Moyles wins hands down of course but the other lads are worth a listen.

JK's is not that bad but Joel's is quite a high pitched yorkshire accent (if you can imagine that). Give it a couple of weeks and it becomes less irritating though.

I'd rather listen to Mills but it could be better if he waited for Mark n Lard to leave so he was permanent in that slot, unlike taking over when Cox is on leave then moving again when she comes back.

Saying that I'm sure Mills said near the beginning of todays show that he's only been in his new slot three weeks and they are replacing him...Might not have been related to this though.
