The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

During last nights Judge Jules around 8:45 for those listening on the radio player the fire alarm went off. It was the silent one so we heard nothing, it was a bit of a shock hearing Outkast and Sugarbabes in his show. Judge Jules himself made no mention after then. That got me thinking, can't they adapt the emergency tape for the genre of that show. Anyone else hear it?

Funny if Busted was on the emergency tape and it happened on John Peel's show.

I guess i takes quite a bit of time to make a one hour emergency tape and keep it up to date.

Seems like he is also have problems getting it to play like Chris did a few weeks ago.

They really should practice their fire drills more.

Does it matter? I mean as long as there is music on instead of nothing. Ask yourself - how often does the fire alarm go off? Not very often [accept Moyles show [[friday]] before he went away] I would imagine.

To an extent it does matter. For us here, we knew what was happening, but to your average joe out there, they will wonder why the hell is Judge Jules playing Outkast and The Sugababes. Might even make some folk turn off and never tune in again.

As much as its important to keep an up-to-date emergency tape, its just as important to make sure its the right genre of music aswell for the show that is on air. I'm sure for Radio 1, this wouldn't be very hard to do.

Maybe, as someone said, Jules seemed to be having problems getting it on and it was maybe the first thing he came to. Maybe they do have one for specific shows. I remember in the past there was different emergency minidiscs for each show, where the presenter would have to pre record links every 6 months or so just saying "your listening to radio 1, bla bla bla".
