The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

Hi, I've looked through the forum and only found one post that was similar to this and the answers couldn't help, so sorry if the answer has been repeated elsewhere.

I've created my SoundPaks fine, with .pak at the end, and they are present in the SoundMachine. They start loading and then Run-Time error '53'
File Not Found pops up as an error.

I can't think what is wrong. File name is as it should be, there are 11 files in there.

Is there a maximum pak size? Can I not have full-stops in the file names?

Any help anyone can offer would be greatly appreciated!
Cheers

The reason you may be reciving the error is if you zip the folder up with the files in causing VB to throw up a File not found error. Alternatively you may not have all the files in the correct format. they do need to be in MP3 form so that lame.exe (the sound decompressor) can import them into the program.

otherwise, you may want to check your keyboard lead is securely connected to your computer.

Sound machine is also best viewed with a monitor. That wasnt written in the help guide.

Dopey, my files are all in mp3 format, so I'm afraid that's not the answer. I don't understand the other thing that you wrote. What's VB? Could you please write it in more lay-man's terms please (i'm a bit of a novice at this!).
Everyone else, my keyboard is plugged in properly, because I'm on a laptop. I've tried connecting it to my monitor and this doens't make any difference.
As per the other post on this subject, do you think it could be that I'm running the trial version of winzip? I'm still within the trial period, as I downloaded it today, but don't know if winzip is slightly different in trial from bought version.

Thanks all for your replies.

When people said plug you keyboard in they were joking(I hope they were anyway).
Firstly do you have 10 files in MP3 format (named 1.mp3 2.mp3 ... 11.mp3) Note you must NOT I repeat NOT rename .wav files to .mp3 files as it wont work, If you want to change .wav files to .mp3 you need something like audacity(google it, it's free :D) . Somtimes if one of those files are missing, It'll throw up a error. then have you zipped the files correctly.

Make sure the zipped up mp3's look like this (don't worry I use a different program for zipping files up)

To your other question
what's VB?

VB is a Higher level proggraming languague, full name Visual Basic, which created the chrismoyles.net sound machine, for more information about it visit the microsoft website, or google it.

I hope all that helps you a bit more. If you can't get it to work then feel free to send me the zipped file, so I can help you more.

I converted all my files using software. They're numbered correctly etc. It would be great if you could check it for me - how can I send it to you? Is the email address on your website ok?

Thanks very much

Actually dopey, i've just sorted it thanks to you. What I was stupidly doing was zipping up the folder with the files in, rather than creating a new zip folder and adding the files. I re-read your thing on VB and it all became clear. Thanks very much for you help - life saver!

Glad I could help :) If you have any more problems then feel free to email me or PM me. If the soundpak is any good then you could pass it on for others to use.
