Also the whole idea of Exocism, plus it came out during a time when they were really strict on Ratings and lots of films were black listed because of it.

Exactly, loads of films now advertise themselves as being 'banned for 20 years',like that one where the cover shows some half naked girl running with a knife through some woods (can't remember the name), they see it as a big selling point because controversy sells. For the same reason you get Eminem putting 'Parental advisory' on his albums, that ain't compulsory, it sells more albums.
