It's growing and it will be the next new city.

By the way, I can't remember the name of the H3, I know most of them.

Only went to MK for Metallica's Big Day a few years ago. Excellent concert but was glad to get away from that * hole and back to a real city.

Brighton thinks of itself as mini-London just by the way all the prices are jacked up sky high for the tourists. London and Brighton have things to offer tourists, what does MK have other than some cows?

Great shopping facilities (longest shopping centre in the country), good gigs as you have mentioned at the Bowl, two cinemas, a growing number of bars and pubs, an easy to navigate around grid system, good connections via train and coach to other places. What more do you want?

Plus, as you said, you went a few years ago. MK is the fastest growing population area in Europe or something and in a short amount of time it will be the largest city in the South East excluding London.

Ah, but I expect it. So should you, certain places are ridiculed on a regular basis, Cornwall being one, MK being another. I prefer to target the North of the UK.

I was at a committee meeting for table tennis today (yeah I got dragged into that) and there was a geezer there who sounded like he was from Hull, that accent really grinds. Plus, all them Northerners that travel down here, they obviously realised something about 'up there'...

You seem to get more southerners coming north though. I was up in Skipton a few weeks ago, and I swear I heard more London accents than Yorkshire ones.

im coming over to Oxford to go to Uni in a copuple of weeks...is it considered southern? how far away from london is it?
User avatar

Yeah, Oxford is southern. It's about 30 miles outside the M25.

Oxford is farm country. However, anyone that isn't a country bumpkin is a student and roughly half of them are female, so Oxford is okay.

The M25 is like a large impassable barrier which surrounds London, designed to keep Londoners from going too far. :)

Or to keep the Northerners out...

If you've read Good Omens you'll know the M25 is actually a large symbol of evil, hence the reason traffic jams and accidents are constant on it.
People in London like it 'cause they can go on a long journey and still end up in London. They don't have to experience the lesser parts of the UK.

I think it's the difference between lots of traffic jams and permanent traffic jams. M25, world's largest car park.

By the way, MK is not a hole at all, It's great. a great place to go out (brilliant bars and pubs) and the entertainment facilities are excellent, as well as the shopping center which has everything you could possibly ever need. The road system is good there too. The new buildings in the town centre (Xscape and the like) are excellent modern arhitecture examples and the whole town centre just looks good now....forget a few years ago. Go take a look now. I'd never move there to live i don't think, but its the best place to visit for amenities and ease of access etc.
