...I'm just interested to know what he was like when he first joined Radio 1. I never heard him on early mornings (only SoundVault clips), but often when debates start up about when he was at his best, people always say then. Why was the show regarded as better then? Was Producer Ben better than Producer Will etc.

I think the show is in a good state now and I think Dave, Will,Chris and Aled work well together - but I've only been listening since about 2000 (or whenever Rhys and Melinda were in their last few months on the show) so obviously have nothing to compare it to before then

Am I right in thinking that when moyles first started, I'm sure Dave wasnt on the team. It was only a couple of months later he joined.

They must have joined up at the Beeb anyway, 'cos Dave wasn't on MK radio with Moyles.

Yeah - Chris quite often tells the story of how Dave went to the cafe round the corner while Mark and Lard were doing the breakfast show from Manchester and while he was there the cleaner came into the studio in London and knocked a fader down with the hoover and for about 20 minutes Mark and Lard were on air just very very quiet, thanks to Dave.

I remember reading somewhere that Chris only met Dave 3 months after joining Radio 1 and they came up with some ideas for a show and the rest was history...

yeah i think chris has said before they went for a few drinks after work and got chatting and started coming up with some ideas that they both liked and decided to get dave more involved
