I'm not one of those people who thinks "I'm gonna get my degree and I'll get straight into a job." I know that, especialy in the media industry, it doesn't work that way - people are looking for talent, experience, something different, enthusiasm...
I've already got a fair bit of experience in Radio, both professional and ameteur. I did consider not going to university and going straight intio professional radio, but then I figured that I can work my way into professional radio whilst still being a student, and that way not only do I have the experience etc, etc but I will have also (hopefuly!) gained my degree which might give me an extra edge over many other people. It would also mean that if I don't get into the area of media I want to straight away, I can use my degree to try and get in from another angle.
As someone pointed out, I'm also doing politics and french which could be quite useful for entering the media (social aspects, communications aspects, etc) and may give me an extra boost over someone else on an application form.
