Grade Point Average
The grade point average is a numerical value which is obtained by dividing the number of quality grade points earned by the number of quality hours attempted. This average, often called the index, is computed at the end of each term, both for the term and on a cumulative basis. The grade of A represents four points for each hour of credit; B+ three and one-half points; B three points; C+ two and one-half points; C two points; D+ one and one-half points; and D one point. No points are recorded for an F, although the hours attempted are included in the computations. No points are recorded for a P or NP, S or U, and the hours attempted are not included in the computations.

Suppose that a student has earned the following grades:

6 hours of A (equals 24 points)

3 hours of B+ (equals 10.5 points)

3 hours of C+ (equals 7.5 points)

3 hours of C (equals 6.0 points)

Then the semester average would be 3.2, which is the quotient obtained by dividing forty-eight (48) (the number of quality points) by fifteen (15) (the number of quality hours attempted).

9 Gsce's. We do 8 Standard Grades, I did 7 in the end. Then five highers if you did ok in the last bit, then Degree. That though is just offputting and completely confusing.

GPAs here aren't so great though. I know in high school, honours courses were 5-1 instead of the normal 4-0, so an A in honours english would be worth 5 points whilst in A in normal biology would only be worth 4 (when weighted). Tonnes of kids were pissed when their straight A's didn't receive as high of a GPA as others because they took too many non-honours courses. They also try to rank schools, and factor your GPA on that. I had a GPA unweighted less than 4.0, weighted was above, and i got into berkeley over kids who had higher GPAs than me, simply because i went to a "tougher" school. GPAs in uni suck too.

There is no such thing as GNVQ Advance anymore, which is the equal of an actually A-level. The GNVQ Foundt. And Inter. still exists.

The education system has moved on and incorporated a more vocational based qualification for people to learn. You can target and specs in a chosen subject.

You can choose to do AVCE, although they are a lot younger than BTECs, which are more commonly known within the workplace. It doesn’t matter what you actually learn because it leads on to Degree and HND level qualf.

There are some highly paid people that have gone the non-a-level route and are now heads of departments at some of the world biggest companies. Which suggests that people are going on a more vocational venture than the traditional a-level route

The only people that are not educated correctly are the people who are either ignorant or naive to actually know about the qualifications on offer. There are people who have A's and B's in GCSE which actually detm If you are intellectually capable to do A/S and A-levels

Note that you can get the equal. of Three A-levels when you do a BTEC and something like two if you do an AVCE. More and more people are doing BTEC's instead of AVCE's.

because our school doesnt offer full GCSE ICT, which is what level he is at, and i think thats rather silly, it does GNVQ ICT, or GCSE short course ICT, which gives you a full GCSE with RS short course GCSE!

Luckily my mates (who were all still 17) were still getting served so I had to spend the rest of the night hiding at the back of the pub while they got me drinks.

Back then in the old days (or would be the young days??) the pubs didn't really care how old you were. They just asked for id and waited for your excuse, then they "reluctantly" served you. Of course if you were dumb enough to prove your real age and it wasn't old enough.... they didn't really have any choice then.

I got IDed a couple of weeks ago at the Co-op. I didn't have any ID but when I said I was 22 I was served without hesitation.

Haha, they're so crap in places like that. I got away with an ID that says I'm 21 because I didn't have my driving license on me once, but it cost me £10 and looks crap. Cost you like £350 for a decent looking driving license though, not really worth it just to get served alcohol I feel, not when there are so many other ways of getting it anyway.
