Doctor Who is set to return to BBC television by popular demand after an absence of seven years.

Jonathan Creek star Alan Davies is the bookies' favourite to become the new Dr Who.

But who would be your favourite to become the new Dr Who?

Well, there's talk that it could actually be a woman this time.

But I'd like Rowan Atkinson to reprise his comic relief role and do it.

I think they should just give Paul McGann a proper run as the Dr.

Last year there was big talks with Anthony Stewart-Head to play the Dr and after he has done several audio books as the Dr I think he has far more chance than Alan Davies.

To make it politicaly correct, the new Dr. should meet 1 or more of the following criteria:
Female
Black
Asian
Homosexual
Vertically challenged
Overweight

When Dr Who first started - these things werent really thought of when making a programme. When did it start - the 60/70's? Being Homosexual - how would that really be shown in the new Dr Who? Vertically Challanged - Eh? Dont you mean tall? Surely there has been tall Dr Whos.

Dr Who was a sterotypical scarf wearing British Man..

Sidla - good post there :)

Vertically Challanged normally means very short. It's not often being tall is a disadvantage (apart from travelling economy on planes).

Good to know, thanks!
