Radio One have announced today that the next two DJ's are to do a Life swap similar to what Chris Moyles and Sara Cox have done.

From January Scott Mills will be taking over the Weekend Lunch and Nemone will be doing Early Breakfast.

Nemone said of her move "It's great to be given a five day a week slot. With Moyles's new show following mine, weekday mornings on Radio 1 are going to sound pretty different in 2004."

Scott added "I'm glad to be moving to the weekends. Getting up early for Britain is great but you can only do it for so long. After five years I am looking forward to seeing a bit more daylight."

That means the new weekday daytime schedule will be:

0400-0700 Nemone
0700-1000 Chris Moyles
1000-1300 Jo Whiley (including Newsbeat)
1300-1500 Mark Radcliffe
1500-1800 Sara Cox (including Newsbeat)
1800-2000 Dave Pearce

And the new weekend daytime schedule is:

0700-1000 Spoony
1000-1300 Colin & Edith
1300-1500 Scott Mills
1500-1700 Trevor Nelson (Saturday)
1500-1600 Vernon Kay (Sunday)

I remember you saying something about Mills, that you wish they'd realise and give him decent time slot, Mcqueen. (Something on those lines)

I've always said he was alright as well. I just don't understand why they wont give him a weekday slot. He would be ideal on the 1500 - 1800 time slot.

Well, maybe he's going to follow the Moyles route. Starts on early breakfast, then gets a weekend show then gets the afternoon show. So when Sara's contract is finally up, he could take over.

As long as Scott covers daytime shows from time to time I have no complaints. Ideally I'd like Scott to replace Whiley, but I can't see that happening.

Well admittedly not many people at 4am but towards the end lots of people are getting up. Does anyone subscribe to RAJAR?

I can't imagine him replacing Jo, they want to have at least two women on daytime.

Mills sounds a lot better for my work on a Saturday. Nemone is nothing that spectacular to listen too.

Not as old I don't think, but then the younger the better in the eyes of Radio 1.

I'm not too sure about this swop. Granted, it's great for Scott Mills as he gets a long overdue lie in, but does he see a move to weekend afternoons from a daytime gig as a promotion?

On the rare occasions I have listened to Radio 1 on weekend afternoons Nemone has been a fairly good listen (although I prefer Vicky Marsden) so she will probably do OK on early breakfast. However, I thought that Mills and Moyles had the potential for some good handovers and banter next year (I know there is normally a news bulletin at 7am but still) whereas I don't think that kind of chemistry will be there with Nemone and Chris. Or Chris and Jo Whiley for that matter...

Maybe i'm completely wrong, but i'd have thaught that the weekend shows better for Mills as he'll get more people tuning in to actually listen to him rather than just something to crack the boredom while they are working nights. i will be tuning into mills but not nemone.

more people emailing mills anyway. it was mills who was responsible for the 55 people record at the front of the messageboard because of the studio clock chat. and that was on a sunday afternoon filling in for theako.

Personally i don't think giving Mills a new time slot of weekend aftenoons is the greatest time slot for him to have but its the best one he could get at the moment. Still at least the powers that be at Radio 1 has acknowledged his talent at long last. He has been held back way too long while other less talented Radio 1 DJs have undeservedly been giving daytime slots that Scott could have very easily had.

Still, all in all, even though i will now hear him 3 times less than i currently do, at least i will be able to hear him at a decent time of day now...

Shame really.. I start work normally at 5am, and Scotts great to listen to in the mornings. Mills then Moyles would have been brilliant morning radio.

Chances are, this is all being done in preperation of him taking over from Mark and Lard. He'll be used to the timeslot then, and Nemone will already be settled into early breakfast.

For the past year, I always used to switch over from 1-3 because they annoyed me that much :\ I admit, they've been a lot better to listen to recently, and i've managed to not turn over for a few weeks now, but their styles just not something I enjoy.

Whenever Scotts filled in for them, its been far, far more enjoyable. (But maybe i'm biased because I won his Afternoon Junkie quiz last friday )
