As far as most people are concerned, the first two Britpop albums were Suede - Suede and Blur - Modern Life Is Rubbish, both in 1993.

Manic Street Preachers and Radiohead never classified or associated themselves with anything Britpop.

There's no other Way from Blur came out before the 'Britpop' era. Whilst the Stone Roses were part of the Madchester scene, and although they released Second Coming in 1994, they weren't associated with Britpop.

Britpop ended with The Third Oasis Album, Be Here Now, being a flop, Blur seeking a new musical direction and the unfortunate sudden popularity of the Spice Girls.

If you though were to look for definitive songs then some of them are.

Suede - Animal Nitrate, So Young, The Wild Ones, The Drowners, Metal Mickey, FilmStar, Trash, We Are The Pigs, New Generation, Stay Together

Blur - Chemical World, For Tommorow, Sunday Sunday, Parklife, Girls and Boys, End of A Century, Country House, Stereotypes, Charmless Man, The Universal.

Oasis - Whatever, Wonderwall, Roll With It, Shakermaker, Cigarettes and Alcohol, Some Might Say, She's Electric, Morning Glory, Don't Look Back in Anger, Champagne Supernova, Live Forever

Pulp - Sorted For E's and Whizz, Lipgloss, Do You Remember The First Time, Disco 2000, Common People, Something Changed


Supergrass - Alright, Caught By The Fuzz, Lenny, Mansize Rooster

Echobelly - Insomniac, I Can't Imagine The World Without Me

Elastica - Connection, Waking Up, Line Up

Bluetones, Slight Return, Marblehead Johnson, Bluetonic, Cut Some Rug

Menswear - We Love You, Sleeping In, Being Brave

Sleeper - Sale of the Century, Nice Guy Eddie, What Do I Do Now

Space - Neighbourhood, Female of the Species, Me & You Vs the World

In my opinion, those were the definitive songs and bands of the Britpop era.

not quite brit pop but anyone remember Symposium? they got put into the "britpop" generation and they were famous for stopping Glastongbury 97 as they told the whole audience to have a mud fight with the band

I wasn't suggesting the album should me made of 11 Oasis and 10 Blur tracks, just that those songs were key to the era.

In terms of the album though, once you include those bands, along with the other ones that can kind of be put under the Britpop Umbrella i.e. Dodgy, My Life Story, Gene, Boo Radleys, Ocean Colour Scene, then you're stuck for other 'Britpop' bands.

You most definately can because neither of those bands fit under the category of "Britpop". Britpop doesn't just mean British pop, it was the title given to a type of sound (i.e Oasis, Blur, Suede etc.) produced in the early to mid 90's.

no way....brit is british and pop is popular stop trying to exclude take that and E17....legends
