watching that Imagine programme on the bbc the american producer said they would focus more on Tim and Dawns relationship so it is more of a romantic comedy....

sandra bullock or meg ryan as dawn no doubt.

Ironically, Gervais joked that either Pitt or George Clooney should play him in the US version.

However, TV bosses seem to have taken him seriously, and have approached Pitt to take on the role.

Why does that not surprise me...? I would like to see it for a laugh though.

Also, if it is a romance story between Tim and Dawn, surely they would have to keep the awkwardness between them two, not least because they can't get together because of Dawn's boyfriend?

It's a farce. Why do all American sitcoms have to be Romcoms? And they say our humour's backwards...

I think it's their arrogance (Kendra and few others excepted.) They can't accept that they can't do it better over there, plus it has to be changed to be less subtle, otherwise most people won't get it and think it really is a documentary.

I mean we adapt to (some) American comedies over here, Cheers, Frasier, Seinfeld and Friends have all travelled well. Personally I don't watch any of them, but they have been on our screens for years. Although admittedly we did try and do our own version of Friends with Coupling (is that still going?)

They're showing repeats of Coupling at the moment I think. It's rubbish IMO.
