I’ve been listening to Chris Moyles since his Capital days but I think he’s starting to lose it.

Last weeks shows were some of the poorest for a long while and the afternoon show has been on a steady decline for the last few months.

Features like ‘The Mystery Afternoon Sound’, despite the intended humorous play on local stations features are weak.

Moyles spend half the show talking about football, which wouldn’t be so bad usually but the conversation is repetitive and unimaginative.

The usually funny conversation is laboured, his ‘rants’ are almost embarrassing and the only good parts of the show are the bits with George and David Garrido after the news.

It could be the fact that they’re saving new material for the Breakfast Show but if it’s anything like the last few months then his new slot won’t be successful.

Having said all this though, his show is still better then the dross on other stations.

I agree about the football thing. If I wanted to listen to Jonathan Pearce talk about football I would tune in to 5live for him.

I agree about the Mystery Afternoon Sound. That feature is rubbish. I realise it's supposed to be, but it's just not funny.

Although it is obvious that the show has been in decline as he has lost 700,000 listeners this year - I actually disagree because I think that some of this weeks shows have been the best for a long while.

monday - jerry springer, all the leeds stuff
tuesday - (admittedly sh*te)
wednesday - excellent with all the new features. even though they were crap ideas it was v funny (especially Aled's quiz)
thursday - Moylesworld stuff, Inverness kilt measuring chat etc
friday - first link and celebdaq link were very good and international hello i'm listening

At least chris is not slacking off with only 5 or so weeks to go until the end of the afternoon show. There have been plenty of guests on recently and he is making an effort with new features and ideas instead of just huge boring links to fill the time. I think it is obvious they are saving new material for breakfast and I am sure that Chris will be successful there. How many times each year do people say Chris is losing it. He admits that he has good days and bad days and you may have just caught him on a lot of his bad days recently.

I wonder if Chris is ever going to be a guest on that show as most of the ones they get on don't have a clue about it.

It is. I hope he is on when they move to breakfast as well. The huge link probably wouldn't go down too well in rush hour but Paddy after 9 on a friday would be good.

I get moyles weariness after a while but if you dont listen for a while an come back to it you enjoy it again. I think he suffers from not having as many breaks as other djs....

Well he may be getting a lengthy break in December if Scott Mills is to be believed as he's filling in for Moyles next month although i don't know how long for...

The Mystery Afternoon Sound has provoked one of the biggest reactions from the listeners of ANY of the features that the show has done so I think they'd count that as a success.

The two horses that present the show! The reaction is from the listeners, half of which email/text etc saying the enjoy the feature and the other half from the ones that don't quite get it and text and say that their tinpot local radio station is giving away £25,000 not 25p!
