a copy. why don't people just damn wait for the real thing. Respect the Music, by actually getting off ur arse and spending 15£ instead of buying a shite copy for a fiver from some dodge bloke on a market stall.

I sometimes buy pirate cd's but only if they're really good, lie the Eminem album Marshal Mathers Lp. If i really like it i will then get the real one. I also use mp3's for singles before they are released because singles are a rip off.

Why wait to hear music by your favourite band when you can hear it now? That doesn't make any sense to me.

On the subject of CD's being £15, surely people would be more likely to go and buy the things if the UK prices were more in line with places like the US. Why should we pay so much more? Discuss.

That's exactly what I think. £15 is like a months load of money to some kids. I don't think copying is the answer though, I prefer to know that I'm getting good quality stuff but at £15, I can't afford to be buying every CD that I want.

If CDs were sold at reasonable prices, then surely people wouldn't feel the need to download them from the Internet? :)

Although personally, I don't bother buying anything from music shops anymore, unless it's in a sale, since you can get CDs so much cheaper from ebay.
Adam and people against downloading music, do you think it's wrong buying them secondhand as well, because the artist isn't making any more money out of my purchase?

And, there are so many bands that I wouldn't have heard before and ended up buying the music of if it wasn't for the Internet, so I reckon that the Internet is doing loads for smaller bands who would previously not have done so well, as long as they use it in a way that benefits them and not have a fit like Metallica did.

no, i personally feel that secondhand is just as good as buying an album at £15. if people can't afford to go to hmw etc and buy, then they have no other choice then to buy somewhere else like e-bay or a 2ndhand shop.

artists are make enough money anyway- so i reckon that selling 2nd hand is no problem to the artist or record company. the made loads of money out of first purchases.

magenta- do you buy singles?

*oh, come on eddie. please pick something out of this . ohh, you know you want to* u really are a tit.

I only buy singles if I either really really love them, they're cheap, or I love the band, i.e. I buy all the singles that Ash release, mostly to hear the B sides.

I hate it when you buy a single, and the B sides are just remixes of the single, that's a waste, so since most that I see seem to be like that now, it puts me off buying them and to be fair you might as well just spend 15 minutes downloading the single in that case.

yeah. same here, i buy them for b sides as well. no point otherwise, if you just want it for the a side. some of the b sides used to be good, but i think some bands want to appeal to other people that like other types of music etc. the remixs of some songs are great. the ash and oasis b sides are some of the best i've heard for sometime.

nb: i hate downloading music.

fav ash song?

Loads of bands just do rubbish remixes though, which is plain laziness.

I can never be arsed downloading music, takes too long on my connection. But in it's defence, it's good if you want to get demos and stuff that bands have never released, OR if you're going to buy an album and spend £15 on it, then at least hearing clips of the songs to make sure it's decent before you get it is good.

That would probably benefit bands a lot, offering samples of all the songs on an album, this is what Ash have done I think, made their entire collection available as mp3s, but I think that they cut off about 3/4 of the way through, which lets you hear a decent sample of it, and for bands to not want to do this would surely show a lack of confidence in the album, that people wouldn't want to buy it after hearing it? :)

okay- broadband is the answer to all our problems.

the remixes are cool. makes the song different, instead of just listening to the same song.

IMHO remixes blow. I always feel like I've ended up spending £4 for one song, whereas with artists like Oasis you get at least two, often three brand new songs for your cash, which I reckon is far better!

Getting back to the Oasis album, Emma B has just played "Little by little", and when the song finished she said it was track 6 of the album. On my CD it's track 4. This means one of three things:

1 - Emma B was wrong
2 - The tracks have been shuffled around a bit for the final release
3 - More tracks have been added to the album near the start.

Let's hope it's option 3, although I suspect it's more likely to be option 2...

It IS the final album.

And to the prat who said that Oasis ripped off Stereophonics. The actually bit that Oasis "ripped" off Stereophonics, was originally ripped by Stereophonics from Abba of all people.

Oh well that makes ripping off alright then doesn't it, if it's nicked from someone ELSE beforehand!!
