Uglybob wrote:Yes very loose pun there on the game played with a nice Mitre football usually.

The game is simple. During the month of December, I have picked out 10 matches being played. All I want you to do is to correctly predict the scoreline. Dont want scorers, dont want bookings, just the correct scoreline.

Correct Scoreline earns you 5 points
Correct winning teams earns you 1 point
Incorrect winning team loses you 2 points

Simple

The winner of this game will win a DVD of their choice not exceeding £20, (not falling prey to people asking for the box set of the Bond movies). If you dont own a DVD, then a CD or Video instead.

These are the matches you have to predict

Sat Dec 06 2003
1. Fulham v Bolton
2. Leeds United v Chelsea
3. Middlesbrough v Portsmouth

Sat Dec 13 2003
4. Man Utd v Man City
5. Leicester City v Birmingham
6. Newcastle v Tottenham
7. Portsmouth v Everton

Sat Dec 20 2003
8. Wolves v Liverpool
9. Blackburn v Aston Villa
10. Bolton v Arsenal

Winner as you can see will be revealed on the 20th December 2003. As the post will not be going around much, you will probably not recieve your prize until the first week of January.

Thank you, our first entrant. Remember that first

bolton v arsenal 2-1

means bolton win

it would be less hassle and hoohaa if everyone did their matches like this

bolton 2 arsenal 1

to avoid any yapping.

you get no points if you predict a draw an it isnt the exact score then? if thats true i predicting draws is a bit stupid... says he who has predicted some.

ahh but if its the correct scoreline you get 5 points
thats what your betting against, whether its 1-1

yes, in fact it is better to predict all draws thus losing no points for getting the winning team wrong and still the possibility that you may get a scoreline right. unless you class a draw as getting an incorrect winning team in which case you can still lose points. did someone say simple?

But if you predicted them all 1-1 chances are you'd get maybe a couple right, and you wouldn't have any chance of losing any points. Could be a good tactic. I think I'm going to take a mathematical approach to this and check the odds at the booky's.

Bob> You might want to quote everyones entries as they make them - that way nobody can edit their predictions after the event. Not that anyone would I'm sure *ahem*.

If you think Leicester can win at home against Birmingham you are clearly delusioned.

When does the competition close? I need some more time to think.
