Avid's video was really good, and the song sounded so much better second time round - I think its a grower. Chris did look a bit lost in the video though - just smiled a lot...

If you want it to be Christmas No. 1 then what's the point of buying it on the day of release? I can never understand why people release things at the beginning of December. Why not just release things the Monday before Christmas?

By the way (Kendra) do they have the hype about Christmas number 1's in America? What is so special about being Number 1 at Christmas?

america isn't nearly as fanatical about the charts, let alone the christmas number 1. i think it's just something for your little island.

They did, Matthew was talking about it on The Wright Stuff friday morning. Bless John, it would take a hell of a sense of humour to do that. The singles worth buying just for the video! And if Pop Idol gets to number 1 I'll cry.

yeah plus if you have a semi successful song, itll be in the top 75 till april cos they dont release much in the start of the year cos everyone waits till christmas. plus you have the "cant think of what to buy younger relative for xmas - buy them music scenario.
very cynical but it invariably works. you just need the right promotion. because what you dont want to do is bring something out at xmas and have zero promotion cos nobody will buy it.

and "new" donnie darko movie

donnie darko the movie was made 3 years ago, released in the USA in 2001 and didnt come here till 2002. I seen it in the cinema with my brother in law who proclaimed it the worst film hes ever seen. I think it might have something to do with it being lord of the rings in the other screen that he wanted to see but i didnt like lord of the rings crap.

Oh My God, I've just seen the video for the first time on E4+1 and I can say that it is by far the funniest thing I've ever seen in my life...

...ok maybe that's a slight exaggeration but it was f*ckin fantastic nonetheless...

Poor. It'll never make Number 1.


I actually like the Avid Merrions one now after a few listens. I think after seeing the video for it it makes it better.

As for the Darkness one i think that is poor, but it'll prob grow on me like Avids did.

was a little disspointing - so lets hope it is a grower. I really hope that track doesnt over shadow Friday Night which is such a good track... yet radio 1 probably wont play it :(

If Radio 1 played Friday Night AND the christmas one from the Darkness, then it'd have a much better chance of number one methinks.

As for the actual track, only heard it a couple of times and it didn't seem anything amazing. I'm not a fan of "gimmick" number 1's (see Mr Blobby, Teletubbies and Avids single) and i'm sure it'll grow on me like just about every other song on the album has.

Something has to beat the Pop Idol lot though...
