The best place to park a car if you are coming to the Christmas Lights Switch On at Inverness Cathedral in Inverness is the Highland Council HQ Car Park on Glenurquahrt Rd. (A82) or in the City Centre Car Parks. The road closures around the Cathedral are in operation from 5pm - 9pm.

Just for interest, as I know the locals up here were wondering, one of the main reasons why we moved the Inverness Switch On from the confined streets around the Town House to the more spacious area around the banks of the River Ness was to do our very best to avoid a similar situation on Thursday Night.

Enabling folk to see Chris and the Gang as easily as possible was also part of the reason why we opted to place them on the top of an open topped double decker bus rather than construct a stage outside Inverness Cathedral.

How many more people are you expecting than last time?

The honest answer is that we dont know but we have consulted with the Police and after carrying out a thorough risk assessment we know how many we can allow into that area.

If it becomes full, there will be 11,000 there then the barriers will close and folk will be directed to other parts of the Riverside to watch the Fireworks.
