The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

Greetings from the Highland Capital ! Just a quick post before I collapse into bed with the inside news on Chris and the Gangs visit to Bonny Inverness.

First of all - Chris, Dave, Aled, Rachel and Nick ( from Radio One's Press Office) - thanks from every one in the Highlands for making tonight's Christmas Lights event on the banks of the River Ness such a spectacular success tonight .

We estimate that 15% of the population - between 7-10,000 folk gathered around Inverness Cathedral to see Chris honour his promise to turn our lights wearing a kilt in the "traditional and very refreshing" Highland way.

I cannot remember when I have laughed so much or as hard as I have done over the past 2 days!

Many people have asked me "what's they really like?" so I thought it would be nice to share my answer with the message board.

" These guys are the real thing. Down to earth, kind, big hearted and funny enough to be bordering on genius. If it was up to me I would lock them in the Big Brother house next year and do everyone a favour by cancelling the evictions once they are safely locked inside"

Haste ye back and thanks for the hangover!

Nope - sober - I had to get up at 5am to see them off at the Airport this morning.... and guess what... Aled was looking green at the check in! If you want to read what the local press thought of the gangs visit - check out the The Inverness Courier and the Press and Journal websites later today.

MAGIC MOMENTS NUMBER 292

The Provost of Inverness Bill Smith was thanking Chris and the Gang after the Christmas Lights Switch On in the Main Hall.

Provost "... naturally some folk will still be wondering if Chris honoured his promise to be a true Scot..."

Chris (Quickly) " I couldnt possibly comment "

Provost ..... however, thanks to the highly polished tiles on the floor here in the Town House, I am pleased to confirm that he is a man of his word"

N.B. News from the Guinness Book of Records...Chris, Aled and Dave are now joint holders of the world record for looking down at a floor

I just find it strange you didn't go and see them switch the lights on. That was after all their main reason for going up to 'ness.

I suppose meeting them is better than watching them switch some lights on.

Could imagine you watching them and going: "Right, lets go home now"

i know but there was nearly 10,000 people there, was really crowded and to be honest it was cold and wet and i couldnt be bothered, id already seen them without 9,999 other people there

the things in the p+j and daily record are quite good

Having climbed Hadrian's Wall to come up to the Highlands 5 years ago I would have to disagree. The quality of life up here is amazing. Come and have a look and then let us know what you think.

Scotland kicks ass. It's not all haggis and kilts you know! Admittedly Shetland is a little boring - but it aint all bad.

theres a group in scotland who are like childrens entertainers called something like the happy gang who have a bbc education programme on bbc2 which is unintentionally hilarious and then theres the 4 people with the singing kettle. do the scottish people get anti depressants free or something?

As a child the singing kettle rocked. They came to our school once.

And of course the Scottish sun recently had the story about the lead singers of the Singing Kettles son being arrested for cannabis... and the headline was:

"POTS INSIDE THE SINGING KETTLE"
although you'll only get that joke if you've ever heard of them.

I'm sure the Singing Kettle show came to our school too. They did loads of silly songs about vowels and stuff. Is that them?
