Stars of BBC Radio 1's mainstream marketing campaign revealed

BBC Radio 1 today revealed the mainstream DJs who will star in the station's latest marketing campaign.

Running from January 2004, the TV spots will feature Chris Moyles, Sara Cox, Colin Murray and Edith Bowman.

The campaign will include three executions to promote Chris Moyles as the new Radio 1 Breakfast Show host, Sara Cox as the new host of drivetime and Colin and Edith as the backbone of the new weekend schedule.

Additionally, Chris Moyles will appear in a series of billboard posters.

The campaign centres on the Radio 1 DJs "getting the listener through the day" in a variety of real life situations, focusing on Radio 1's mainstream programming as a place where the young listeners can find the most accessible and exciting daytime radio in the country.

Andy Parfitt, Controller, Radio 1, said: "In recent times we've concentrated on showcasing our amazing live and specialist programmes - now with the mainstream schedule changing for 2004 this campaign will highlight our line up of creative daytime DJs."

Chris Moyles said: "Not only am I going to be all over the radio, I'm going to be all over the TV and billboards too. There’ll be no way to ignore my show."

Not the best Moyles quote ever.

It it a shame about no M&L, they could be helping you through lunch or something.

I am not sure about the use of the word Drivetime, it sounds a bit naff and the show starts at three.

tobermore is near the glenshane pass halfway between belfast and londonderry. It takes a 45 minute drive from Tobermore to both destinations.

only famous things to happen to tobermore was that the Man Utd goalie Harry Gregg who survived the Air crash was born here and that George Best played for Tobermore Utd in 1984.

He's setting himself up for a big fall with all this stuff don't you think? Let's just hope he does pull in the figures after all this "I'm the saviour", "you can't ignore my show" chat...otherwise it'll be pretty embarassing if he doesn't turn it around.

That would have been a quality advert, such a pity. Incidentally just seen the Coxy one and it's crap.

I think that's why moyles avoided using it throughout his five years. Is Dave Pearces show still "Late Drive" as a bit ago I heard that title was being dropped, only to hear him calling it that a couple of days later.

Also, I wonder whether will Moyles will tell the time on the breakfast show? He's always made a point of never doing it and I'm wondering if that'll change from Monday...

i pretty sure he will time check on breakfast... radio research shows that that's one of the main things people listening to the radio want to know, together with news (and traffic for local stations)

I think he used to call it drive or drivetime when he had the afternoon show. Maybe the day should look like this:
Early Breakfast
Breakfast
Late breakfast
Early drive
Drive
Late drive
Sleep
Late sleep

My clock is my stereo so when im listening to the radio the clock isn't shown cos it gives the show/song info on the screen instead so to view the time i have to actually move to press the clock button, or pick up the remote and press TWO, not one, TWO buttons at once to view the time. Obviously knowing what time it is without actually having to move is a priority of mine.

Could you not get a watch? Would you actually chose a station because it tells you the time? If you would, Virgin says it every link I think.

Maybe it was stupid but if people want to know you try and find out. Not that he told us anyway.

I think most radio breakfast shows tell you the time each link to be fair...and virgin is getting better by the way..

Presumably he would have to move his arm to look at his watch, unless he's permanently got his wrist positioned in some sort of imaginary sling like some sort of freak...

See, if the radio tells the time, I can style my hair and do my make up and get dressed..and it will tell me whether I'm on schedule. It's a good idea.
