well remember he started on the 4 oclock slot... did Dave Pearce not do a longer show? And Mark Goodier used to be on in the afternoon... but I cant really remember!

According to the Unoficcial History of Radio 1, Mark Goodier presented his drive-time show until February 1997, so this seems correct.
