Sorry but I have to agree here - we are such a bunch of pathetic pussies in this country, one bit of snow (albeit fairly heavy) and we're sh*tting ourselves. It doesn't happen anywhere else, in Canada they have six foot of snow and just clear it and carry on - it's ridiculous.

That's not an excuse for us. The reason being that in one sprinkling of snow, that doesn't cause anything like the problems of today's proportions, people who live a short walk from work complain that they can't get in because they can't get their car off the drive - so for people who live eight plus miles away we are expected to get in on time - which is fine - but because of people not being able to cope in this country (see above) it means leaving ridiculously early. It took me three hours to get the 15 miles home today (going the long way to avoid the motorway bridge) and that doesn't include the two hours it took to wait in the pub for the traffic to clear.
