Sorry but I have to agree here - we are such a bunch of pathetic pussies in this country, one bit of snow (albeit fairly heavy) and we're sh*tting ourselves. It doesn't happen anywhere else, in Canada they have six foot of snow and just clear it and carry on - it's ridiculous.
Quincy wrote:i want it to snow overnight then then i get the day off 2mrw, but i doubt it will.

That's not an excuse for us. The reason being that in one sprinkling of snow, that doesn't cause anything like the problems of today's proportions, people who live a short walk from work complain that they can't get in because they can't get their car off the drive - so for people who live eight plus miles away we are expected to get in on time - which is fine - but because of people not being able to cope in this country (see above) it means leaving ridiculously early. It took me three hours to get the 15 miles home today (going the long way to avoid the motorway bridge) and that doesn't include the two hours it took to wait in the pub for the traffic to clear.

started snowin here (oxford) at about half four but didnt last too long. its all freezing now.

the reason it seems like such a big deal in in the uk is because the government have no decent plans to deal with such occasions. the roads become dangerous and trains cant run so people run to the shops and begin to stock up like the 3rd world war is just about to kick off.

personally i blame Blair....hes to blame for everything.

Yes! The school I teach in has been closed for the day and I don't have to go in! It's great getting a day off when you least expect it...The reason the school is closed is because some of the teachers live miles away and the roads are too icy around here. Best thing is I live just round the corner and could easily have walked and I still got to stay at home!

we're not in today.. although the snow is thawing - every now and then there is loud bangs in my house from the snow falling off the roof. However it did still snowing a little there....

I reckon I will have school again tomorrow. Not been in since Tuesday.

I know Radcliffe school (which means nothing to anyone apart from me and perhaps a couple more on here, but it's a local school) aren't in again till Monday.

Eddie, I'm very close to you and I managed to get in on time today. Granted, it meant leaving earlier, but it's not like it's an impossible task (how far is miles away?)

Had it all here in Guildford. Rain, Snow, Hail, Thunder & Lighting just after 6 last night. Slowly melting away. Hardly any snow, mind you. Just icy mush now.

It could be to do with the fact that we're not used to it. I don't complain anyway, I love the stuff.

That was my second guess to where you might be, when you were saying how great those "French" Keyboards are..!

Thats seriously cold as ice.

Which leads me to MOP - Cold as Ice. Great track. Glad Edith played it this morning.

Think she would be good in Jo Whiley's 10 - 1

Some of the teachers live about 15 or 20 miles away from the school. One left at 6 last night and got home at 10 - a journey that usually takes 25 mins. The ice round here is quite bad and as most of the roads into the town from the places they live are minor roads with very bad ice, the head teacher didn't want those teachers to travel. With that many teachers away there was not enough to run the school so we all got to stay home.

Isn't she on now? If not she's probably flying to New York.

She's actually in New York already preparing for her show.

Its broadcasts 30th Jan from Katz Deli with special Guest Fatman Scoop & Graham Norton. Check her mini site out.

Compared to Zane's Guest - I think she got the short straw.

I'd have to agree to your doubt.

Just Rain, Cloud and Sleet for you, am afraid.

I bet your looking forward to the Sun, eh? Looking nice up there for the weekend

Has South West got the snow yet? Cornwall for example?
