I used to get stuff I sent in by text read out all the time on R1. Especially the Early Breakfast show and the weekend shows. Since I text in at the start of one of Sara Cox's eardrum assaults to tell her that she was "A big, stupid, self obsessed rubbish who has totally ruined the afternoon slot by being indecipherable and playing too much hip hop" Which I abbreviated to "Useless bitch", I have been unable to get any texts read out on air, when I was average 2 or 3 a week previously. Anyone else heard of this one or are my texts not funny or valid any more?!

So why post in a thread about a blacklist if you don't care about it...!? Let the people who do care if there is a black list (however sad they are) discuss it.

Maybe I should post in the predictions thread how much I don't care about the predictions everytime someone makes a prediction.

as a grown up (i know i struggle to believe it too) I shall ignore the mindless fluff above and give my considered response.

my guess is they haven't blacklisted you but they are finally stopping having as many texts as they realise it isn't interesting if you do it all the time.

I listened to a good hour's worth of Sara Cox this afternoon for the first time, and was horrified. It's as if she's regressed into "local radio" mode after losing the breakfast slot. Quite depressing to hear crap like "and Matt on the M4 wants a shout out for his gran, who's in the local hospital recovering from hip surgery. Awwwwww get well soon HERE'S OUTKAST".

I wouldn't be surprised if there was a blacklist system in place on the text messaging thingy, but I might be surprised if they blocked someone in response to a single abusive message. - jc

They do blacklist some people.. I remember Scott Mills reading out a stupid text once and saying "Go away, don't text us again, idiot.. In fact.. *clicks*, you can't anymore now, you're numbers blocked"

Or something along those lines.

different producers and djs have very differing opinions on that one.

some like the regulars and will always read out texts/emails with their comments (mark n lard) however others will immediately stop reading out regulars' texts if they start to recognise their name every day.

it can make the show look like it only has 4 listeners if they keep reading out the same names
