Looking at the new R1 schedule, I notice that Edith Bowman is filling in on a Sunday afternoon for JK and Joel until they arrive at the station in August. So this means that she'll be on every day (with the exception of Saturday) between 1 and 3

Now surely it would have been fair if someone else had got that slot, i.e. the delectable Vicky Marsden - surely one of the most under-rated presenters on the network.

She's been on the station for 4 years, and has rarely been given the opportunity to shine (i.e. in a mainstream slot) - all she has been given is the late night/early morning graveyard slot. Yet, the likes of Vernon Kay (who has only been on air for a couple of months) is given primetime weekend slots. If I was Vicky, I'd be a little pissed off...

I agree with all of that. It would have been the perfect opportunity to give her a decent shift (albeit for a few months). I can't believe Vernon has been given three hour weekend shows when he's been there five minutes (and is sh*t) whereas presenters who have waited years for a decent chance are ignored.

Having said that though, I am glad Edith has been given the show on her own as she is much better without that w*nker Murray.

I know, he should still be doing pilots really. I have just been listning and he talked over 2/3 of Keane about football. Kevin Greening couldn't be given more than one weekend show and he knew what he was doing. Parfit just seems to like people who have been on TV, just look at who he has signed up in his career:
Sara Cox
Vernon Kay
Colin
Edith
Wes
Zane Lowe

1/2 about of them are from TV.

I am not to bothered about Vicky Marsden to be honest.

To be fair, Colin Murray and Zane Lowe were on the radio in addition to their TV work, before they were signed. And in Murrays case, he was on Radio 1's Evening Session for N.I for a good few years before.

well i doubt the radio one bosses are too concerned about fairness. they are concerned about listeners (and money no odubt). if edith is gonna get more listeners for that time slot than vicky then of course they are going to go for her. fairness doesnt really come in to it.
