From what I saw of 'Meet Ricky Gervais', I thought it was rubbish. His star guest being Tommy Walsh of gardening fame.

I think The Office is the best thing since sliced bread. 'Animals' is good aswell mostly, but it's nothing really special. He looks a bti nervous at some points.

I think Gervias is good at award ceromonies though. He's normally the highlight of the awards. His next program will prob get slated for nto being as funny as the office.

so thats what it was called

wasnt that before the office though 2002/2003 (or before the office was really sucessful)
i didnt find it funny, hence why i only watched bits of 2 shows, Lee Evans was more my thing in 2002/2003 (he's sh** now though)

'Meet Ricky Gervais' was around 2000, after he left the 11 O'Clock show (which he was also rubbish on), but they have repeated it recently to cash in. I know that the joke on his chat show was that he just acted stupid in front of the guests but it didn't really work. Pretty much on a par with Moyles' TV shows.

I thought his Animals DVD would be good but I sat stony faced through that too (although it had some nice animal facts). He is also embarrassing on chat shows, although his award show appearances are funny but these have dried up now.

The Office is still great, though.

It's seemed to get a bad reviews generally, but all the people I know thats seen it think it's good. I think the bit reading from the bible is the best bit.

The facts aren't reliable either. Didn't i look a fool telling everyone giraffes are mute...

I still don't understand why he did a commentary though. That is shit.

Yeah, that's always the danger of doing a highly successful program, especially relatively early on in your TV career (I'm assuming he did nothing before the 11 O'Clock Show). I think that's why David Jason didn't do any more comedy after Only Fools.

Ricky Gervais wasn't sacked from XFM at all, infact he still works there on and off...

The man is a legend, its quite high brow comedy, so i'd expect most of you guys to "not get it"

Capital sacked him when they bought XFM it in 1998, but re hired him on the strength of the Office in 2001 as opposed to his broadcasting talents. He is taking a sabbatical at the moment.

I wouldn't really call laughing at freaks in jars, bestiality and hairy Chinese kids high brow but that's up to you.
