The counter isn't an accurate count of visits since the site launched though so it's not that bigger deal really. The site prob had 1million visits a while ago.

Whilst it's true it is far from accurate (and was installed well into the sites history), it'll still be a nice milestone.

It's only views of the main page of course. Monthly it serves more than 350,000 pages to visitors from across the site.
