Self-op is where the presenter of the show is operating the equipment in the studio, or someone in the actual studio (same room) is operating the equipment, like radio 1.

The oppisote is tech-op, where the presenter is speaking to a microphone but everything is controlled from a room next door, like 5 live for example.

Why they've named it self-op here I don't know. Surely their main studio is also self-op.

I've heard them say something about another villa and I think they said something about a hotel to the winners.

A hotel, I think. It's not like the team are going to just allow a load of possibly freakish people to sleep in the same house as them just because they won a competition.
