Ha, thankfully I'm only half Scottish but I'll still defend them anyway. Most Scots aren't bitter about England qualifying and Scotland not, and usually don't hate the the English team. They hate the English Media for hyping them up to be far better than they actually are, the English commentators for never shutting up about winning the World Cup 36 YEARS AGO and the chav fans for generally being a bunch of tossers.

The Scots are just generally tossers for not shuting up about the English losing. I don't think the media had hyped them up to win, they just praised them when they played well.

Disappointing for the French today. Funny I supported them today...

we're not bitter.

The feature they did on newsbeat on Thursday was very good about this. The Scottish want England to do well, afterall they are our neighbours, however if you could see the whole tournament from our view, the English just don't shut up about it. The way the whole media spoke was that you were deffinetly going to win, or at least be in the final. And as Mafro says... that pissing world cup 36 years ago. They dont shutup about it.

Exactly, I do feel for England going out, but not for the stereotypical Englishman or the mass media hype produced. It's really put in your face.

Maybe you're just not as passionate about it as we are, probably because you've got such a lame team.

If Scotland were in the tournament, I'd want them to do well, along with Wales and Northern Ireland.

Oh well, the past two days results have taken some of the interest away from the tournament for me. Go Portugal I say.

I live in England and get sick of that although I didn't hear so many references to it this time. At least now all those stupid flags (which are made in Taiwan) are disappearing.

Stupid football.

Thats rubbish because when England played france and lost they still said England were the best team and that they would go all the way.Thats why some people get angry.Your team lose but every Englishman still thinks There the best and now you are out i bet The coverage is played down now!It wont be on BBC one every time a program ends. And i am also glad Chris is coming back because its time to get back to talking about other things in the morning instead of just football, football, football.

I didn't read that they would go all the way. They praised them as for 90mins they had managed to stop France, the reigning champions, from scoring, which is an achivement

Ermm ... obviously there won't be as much coverage now as people aren't as interested in in now! That generally happens with every program when peopel lose interest in it...

I - an Englishman - don't think they are the best, and didn't expect them to win so obviously losing was going to happen sometime, there's no need for the great ginger haired, skirt wearing scottish to keep going on about it. I only ever hope we (not me persoanlly im crap at competative sports) win something to spite the scots, then we, the english and the media really won't shut up about it.

The rugby?

The Scottish seem a bit like the Australians in their desire to want us to lose, but we normally support them. Personally I couldn't give a rats ass about sports, though.

I don't think people are so bothered about the Olympics, it's not so easy to definitively 'win' those.

Ah Mcqueen, the Board's resident racist

What did everyone think of the Sweden v Holland match? I thought it was alright but it got a bit boring in parts, I love it when a match goes to sudden death penalties though! Me and my mate were watching it in the pub and appeared to be the only people cheering on Holland, it was so easy to tell who the Celtic fans were!

i seem to remember that they have a medals league table type thing for each countries medals. I think GB did ok in sydney last time (top 10 i think)

p.s, if the penalty spot was so rubbish why did it affect us more than portugal?

and apparntly england only win on penalties when they are taken at the end of the ground to the RIGHT of the tv cameras (won in spain in 96, lost to germany in 96, argentina 98 and portugal 04) i cant remember nay others before that im too young.

If the ref had any sense, he would have moved the penalties to the other end of the pitch, but he is probably to busy bleaching his hair and goatee to worry about stuff like that. The look on Beckham's face after he took his penalty and they way he pointed at the spot was priceless though.
