Shorly that can't be accurate? it's very much guesswork then.

I imaging they use stratified sampling or something similar. I.e. attempt to take a cross section of the population. Its effectiveness and accuracy is questionable of course, and the integrity of the results abvoiusly sepends largely on the method and way it is collected.

MORE IMPORTANTLY THOUGH; will there be a new jingle celebrating the loss?

wouldnt they do it like they do with TV, that so many households have a box plugged into the tv to see what channels there watching when?

And if they make jingles for it, i just hope theres somthing in there blaming scott mills.... lol

No, it doesn't. It is only measured for a few weeks in the middle of the quarter (April to June ish). Cynics would say that Chris goes on holiday when they aren't recording data...

Don't forget that there are a few problems with these figures:
a) They don't include anyone under 15, and quite a lot of under 15s probably like Moyles as opposed to Wogan etc. so Radio 1 will never have an accurate measure. This seems stupid to me, why should a 14 year old not count? Children are people too.
b) There was lots of publicity in January, but none recently.
c) Some data was recorded during the world cup when people want sports coverage.

Anyway 140,000 is nothing, only 2% of the audience. Better than the 10% Cox used to shed occasionally.

rattis wrote:Before starting to analyse the listening figures, i would like to know how they are calculated. Personnally i dont believe them to be all that acurate.

People tick boxes, send in forms, get free Marks and Spenser’s vouchers etc.

I am surprised about Colin and Edith also, but well done to them. I liked Mark and Lard but I am sick of everyone complaining, it's time to move on. Mark is good on Radio 2; I prefer that show to M&L to be honest. I'm getting a bit sick of the Mills love too  .

Then we will have accurate figures....

Its the same sort of argument that Young People are using for Votes at 16... Good Luck

Yes, Capital has almost always been number one after Radio 4. Hardly a news story. Vaughn has actually lost loads of listeners. I still like him, though.

They have this, they are called the GFKs. They actually show a lower reach for Moyles.

Apparently breakfast is up 400,000 compared to last year so if it holds steady he will be there for ages. It's hardly a Mark and Lard (decline).

GfK's arent official yet though. Its all to do with Kelvin whathisname from talksport, who reckons Rajar are costing him millions in advertising revenue due to their reports showing less listeners for his station than he actually has.

He thinks that he has hundreds of millions of people listening to his station for less than the 15 minute minimum Rajar need. People probably tune in and realise that it's Talk Sport then turn over ASAP. The twat.

Wouldn't the loss of listeners also have something to do with people being on holiday and not waking up at 7am to listen. I know that has happened to me many a time, but god bless listen again on Radio1 Online.
