On the Radio 1 site, Comedy Dave's biography mentions a incident when he took the Simon Mayo show off the air and it nearly ruined his career.

Anybody know what happened?

Dave said that he was doing some maintenance in a room with many wires, when he walked out he realised that he'd taken Simon Mayo off air and quickly sorted the problem, that's about it really.

Dave was fiddling about with some wires when he was doing some engineering and basically he pulled the wrong one out and took Mayo off the air for 15 minutes. The DAT kicked in but it was a few minutes before anyone realised what had happened.

Thats it really.

The fag incident was when Dave went for a fag and the cleaner pushed a fader down resulting in a very queit Mark and Lard for about five minutes.

Like Toast said Dave gets embarrassed when Moyles tells the story, same as the story of Dave's arrest (which came up again this morning.)

Thats not my piccy on the RR forum, as I'm a girl, everyone makes that mistake.

I know I should be called Nala or something but one of my friends had already brought a Pompey shirt with Simba printed on the back so the name stuck.

somebody in a portsmouth shirt with simba on the back and they chose to call you simba.... thats a lucky escape to be honest I would have suggested much better.

i found the eternal answer to the comedy dave taking simon mayo off air question (if it ever was eternal):

Dave confessed to ZOO that he once took Radio 1 off the air for 15 minutes when he went for a fag.
