At last!! Radio 1 have realised that the mainstream audience hasn't quite switched off after 6pm! 4pm to 7pm is a good drivetime slot. Plus Mills gets to bugger off home early on a Friday, result for him!!

When they said the evening line-up was changing, I really thought John Peel was going to get the bullet. He'd fit in well doing the same sort of thing on 6Music. Anyone agree?

but could they not now re-introduce Mayo's old show and give it to Mills rather than giving C+E three hours? e.g. :
7:00 to 10:00 Moyles
10:00 to 12:00 Mills
12:00 to 14:00 Whiley
14:00 to 16:00 C+E
16:00 to 19:00 Cox (when she is back)

No. No, no, no. For a start, Mayo followed the breakfast show at 9am, and was on for three hours until noon. Whiley's show sounded awfully rushed and cut up when it was on between 12 and 2; remember you had fifteen minutes of Newsbeat in the middle. No real time in between for any involved features.

With Mills standing in for Cox for so long, there's always that hope that they'll keep Mills on in that slot even after she returns from maternity leave. It could've happened with Whiley, too, but Whiley's not as hated.

Steve Lamacq is clearly on his way out now.

That's always been the case, at least since 6Music launched.

All in all quite good except the increase of Colin + Edith’s hours.

I wish the BBC was open enough as a public service broadcaster to publicise not just how many listeners it gains, but how many it loses for specific shows. I'd immediately ask about Sara Cox vs Chris Moyles, and Colin and Edith vs Mark and Lard... - jc

The daytime schedule could do with improving but i don't think that the way above would be good. Mills' show should stay where it is with him on it.

In my opinion, swapping Coxy for any of the daytime DJ's would be ruuuubish!

Jo Whiley isn't everyone's cup of tea i know but i think she does serve her purpose in the daytime line up. Moyles, Colin & Edith & Scott Mills don't have any Live Lounge or 'New Music' orientation.

I doubt they would get rid of Moyles from 9-10 as this hour is very popular in the Rajars. Is the rumour from Radio Rewind / another Radio 2 message board, by any chance? They aren't very accurate.

To be honest, I still think Moyles' show worked better in the afternoons and I LOVE Scott Mills when he is doing breakfast

i think that scott mills is class on the afternoon show and moyles is class on the breakfast, but, not into whiley or c&e, nowhere near, infact, not even a patch on mark&lard. never knew they were forced out.......
always thought they had just had enough.......
