Right, taking (fictional) bets on who gets the exclusive first play and when.

I am guessing Christopher, and on Wednesday morning at about 8:15.

The fact that its on the R1 C list suggests to me that its probably going to be around before Thursday (playlist day).

dizzie rascal is apparently doing a rap in this new version of band aid.

wonder where he got that idea from *cough* moylesaid 2001 feat stevotrash rap *cough*

they call him a pioneer, but he's nothing but an alba to me.

I'm sorry, it is dreadful. Promising start with Chris Martin and then it all goes downhill, and quickly. What an amazing array of vocal talents on show (sarcasm alert). I can appreciate trying to do something different rather than slavishly copy the original but once you start messing around with the original arrangement you're in big trouble. Its like when they did the new version of three lions, when you hear it out and about, you dont know which version to sing. When people are singing along to the new version in the the pub, what are they supposed to do when Dizzee Rascal makes his appearance?

Its a duffer IMHO, but hey...its for charidee isn't it

Ha, good point. It's all a big gimmick anyway. Let's face it, Geldof only does it to massage his own ego.

I didn't see the point in Chris saying we should buy three or four copies of the single.... maybe one copy if you like it but I'd prefer just to give money directly to charity.

Maybe I'm just old fashioned but I prefer the 1st one. Why couldn't they have written a new aid song? The 1st one was good and it did its job but with all the so called talent on the lineup I'd have thought they'd have been able to come up with something.

Chris Martin (Coldplay): It's Christmas time, there's no need to be afraid. At Christmas time, we let in light and we banish shade

Robbie Williams: But say a prayer, pray for the other ones. At Christmas time it's hard, but when you're having fun

Sugababes: There's a world outside your window, and it's a world of dread and fear

Fran Healy (Travis): Where the only water flowing

Fran Healy und die Sugababes: Is the bitter sting of tears

Fran Healy und Justin Hawkins (The Darkness): And the Christmas bells that ring there are the clanging chimes of doom

Bono (U2): Well tonight thank God it's them instead of you

Will Young und Jamelia: And there won't be snow in Africa this Christmas time

Ms Dynamite und Beverly Knight: (Oooh) Where nothing ever grows, no rain nor rivers flow

Joss Stone & Co: Do they know it's Christmas time at all?

Tom Chaplin (Keane): Here's to you

Justin Hawkins: Raise a glass for everyone

Dizzee Rascal: Spare a thought this yuletide for the deprived, if the table was turned would you survive

Busted: Here's to them

Justin Hawkins: Underneath that burning sun

Dizzee Rascal: You ain't gotta feel guilt just selfless, give a little help to the helpless

Joss Stone und Justin Hawkins: Do they know it's Christmas time at all?

Tom Chaplin: Feed the world

Tom Chaplin and Chris Martin: Feed the world

Tom Chaplin, Chris Martin und die Sugababes: Feed the world

Alle zusammen: Feed the world, let them know it's Christmas time again etc etc etc

Das is nicht so gut. Whats with the german?

I've heard it 3 times now and it's alright. Obviously not as good as the original but it is reasonable... and after all for charidee. I agree with Sheldon, the Chris Martin, Dido and Robbie bit sounds promising - but then it goes a bit wrong.

The Bono bit an all... my favourite bit of the original ruined.

Stealing 19 year old quotes but it did amuse me.. from here

Morrissey wrote:'The main reason I'm dangerous is because I'm not afraid to say how I feel. I'm not afraid to say that I think Band Aid was diabolical. Or to say that I think Bob Geldof is a nauseating character. Many people find that very unsettling, but I'll say it as loud as anyone wants me to.

'In the first instance the record itself was absolutely tuneless. One can have great concern for the people of Ethiopia, but it's another thing to inflict daily torture on the people of England. It was an awful record considering the mass of talent involved. And it wasn't done shyly — it was the most self-righteous platform ever in the history of popular music.'
