Are you joking with that test mix? because if you're not then something is very, very wrong. I can not possibly believe for one minute that you can sit there and think that sounds good?!

Who ever is singing on it is absolutely, categorically the worst singer I have ever heard - they hoepfully, for their sake were only joking and thought it was funny to put on a silly voice and pretty much just say the words rather than singing them. It is so so bad that even thouygh the words are spoken they are still diabolically out of tune.

The words are also very out of time with the music and mixed badly.

If you are going to try and do someting like this (and it's prbably much, much too late now), you at least have to make a propper effort and sing proeprly - it's not funny hearing someone deliberately sing badly. In my OPINION the words to the track are ok and Tom has done a good job of removing most of the origianl lyrics, what you need to do is put some real effort into it - it would be far better if people tried to sing as well as they possibly could. I think you'd have a far better chance of getting the track played if all of the comedy came from the lyrics rather than the bad quality of the singing and production, afterall, people don't want to listen to things that are difficult to listen to, especially in the morning.

Now I'm not syaing the singing has to be good, to be honest, the chance of having a board full of good or even adequate singers is very low but come on...make an effort. I got a headache from the first 2 seconds of that test mix, Chris and the team will just bin it straight away. Please don't get me wrong, I am not saying I could, or am going to do any better, I'm just telling you how you can greatly improve your chance if there is anytime left. Oh, and another little tip. E-mail the final mix to Rahel rather than the mailto:[email protected] address.

personally i would think there is more chance of it being played if it is excrutiatingly bad than to be embarrassingly mediocre.

I wasn't complaining. I don't care at all if it is good or not or if it gets played at all. I was merely saying what was wrong with it and how it could be improved. At the moment it is so so so so bad and could easily, with some effort be quite good.

I am not saying that I could or shoudl be the one to make it better, In fact I know I couldn't because I don't care about it at all. I sung on the original (Which was dire too but not quite to the same extent) and that was embarassing enough for me to have anything at all to do with mark 2.

i agree with bob that sound sh*t will secure a mention as theres lots of material to branch off.

the running gag on the show is that this website is full of sad nerds. not far from the truth. therefore a song which is poor will fit in with this characterisation and more likely earn a play. A top quality version will leave listeners thinking, 'well why didn't those lazy sods actually involved in the show do this'.

Eddie, a great muscian and producer as has been prooven in the past does have a worthy opinion. However, its so easy to sit on the touchline and bitch.

From banging on drum, strumming guitars to fiddling with a french horn, eddie has everything covered. Its just a shame that the exchange student isn't leaving earlier as it would free up eddies time to help produce this work.

A bad throat does not, repeat does not, change your ability to sing. It can change the quality of a performance in terms of croackiness and being able to reach all of the high notes but it does not stop you from singing in tune if you are usually able to.

If that is you singing on the track gavo2004 then I would not admit to it - it is not singing, it is speaking in time (partially) to the music. There is one place where it does go in time and tune very briefly but then falls down again.

As Stevo says, yes, it is very easy for me to bitch from the sidelines and yes, that is what I am doing. I have no time at the moment to help even if I wanted to, apparently (i.e the wife says) it is better to help her with the housework than sit singing at my computer - and to be brutally, brutally honest I am 1000000% sure you donj't have the time anymore either what with there only being 2 shows left before Christmas.

I can also totally see where Bob and Stevo are coming from on the "It'll be better if it's bad" front but I think it has to be deliberately bad to be funny. The ironic thing is, the people making the track don't seem to be doing it deliberately - the badness is just happening naturally or so it would seem from gavo2004's excuse post.

time's up, after all the the bragging and sh*tting upon the original at least the dr, monkey, myself and the others actually carried the idea to the end. In three days. In that time frame we did did an alright job.

Oh no, you got me wrong, I wasn't really gloating. I actually would have liked them to do it to hear the final outcome and to see if it actually got played. I was just noticing an absense from the board for those involved - a meer observation!
