The place where everyone hangs out, chats, gossips, and argues

Well today is the 1st birthday of the breakfast show.

But after all the discussions about whether or not Chris would be good on it, what do YOU think one year on?

From a raitings view, he is a winner. But what about the views of "cult" fans?

Well when you consider 5 years on the breakfast show is usually a lot as far as R1 are concerned.

I still think that Moyles is better suited to the afternoons - and Mills is perfect for breakfast.

That's not to say though, that I don't find the breakfast show very funny and it has been consistently so throughout the year.

Good - but Moyles is that good he could still do a lot better.

Best thing about the show a year on though has to be Dominic Byrne... legend.

The show is far too different now, and in my opinion it isn't half as good as classic Moyles. When Mills did the breakfast show, his show was pretty much the same as it is now. Moyles has changed the format too much.

Although he's still 100 times better than Coxy, but that goes without saying.

Moyles I think this year will keep growing and growing and growing. I personally don't think he's at his peak yet. We'll just have to wait and see what this year has in store for us....

He has been good but not great. Hopefully the new feature(s) will help the show become GREAT.

I think thats a fair point actually Moyles has had to adjust to fit a new audience and it has obviously worked so maybe as he gets more comfortable the show will develop.

Downloaded that tonight as a reminder - awesome.

"So goodbye to Zoe, see you later to Cox,
You're contract has expired, so get back in your box".

I wish she bloody would.

I prefer Vernon on weekends than afternoons, I can't listen to him in afternoons for some reason

It's easy to remember afternoons with rose tinted spectacles; back then every one used to go on about how much better Chris was on early breakfast. If you listened to a whole afternoon show it tended to feel a bit flat and lazy, with lots of references to 'padding' and 'filling links'. Now the problem is getting too stuck in a grove in terms of features, but the show overall feels more focused.

It’s great to silence the critics; even Mark Lamarr was admitting that Chris was popular (if very dislikeable) a while ago.

hmm they're not quite silenced yet... although granted that was back in march.

I suppose 'silenced' would be the wrong word. 'Confused' is more fitting.

One thing I miss about the afternoons is when Chris would start the show in an angry mood, e.g. after just having sacked the producer of his TV show or being annoyed about the messy state the studios where in after Christmas. He is now just usually normal or tired. You don’t tend to get the freestyled ‘no material’ shows where Chris and Dave would just talk crap for three hours, which could be entertaining. There are too many members of staff now.

I find the review by "Ash" very funny indeed.

Chris Moyles, the self-proclaimed "Saviour of Radio 1", which clearly isn't working because their listening figures are fast on the decline

Chris Moyles has added listeners.

Mark Lamarr's definition of the man when he appeared on an episode of Never Mind the Buzzcocks, Moyles is a "*", but he's also a very rude man to boot

Calling someone a "*" isn't rude, then?

"The hour between getting up and leaving the house is the only bit of calm in an otherwise hectic day

Rubbish. The panic / chaos / disorganisation of getting up, dressed, and out to work is probably the most hectic part of anyone's day.

Radio 1 is supposed to appeal to me as a 25-year-old woman

I maybe mistaken, but I thought Radio 1's daytime programmes were supposed to cater for the 15-24 year olds?

Ben Cooper, head of mainstream programmes for Radio 1... ...the pointless guest could do was waffle on about 'context', 'perspective' and that Moyles is a "polarising presenter" who talks in a way that doesn't actually suit everyone (Oh well, that makes it alright then(!)

Yes it does make it alright. I find Terry Wogan to be a very uninteresting presenter. That's because he doesn't cater for my taste. (I'm 20, after all) But I still understand why he's popular - and can applaud his success. Ditto Christian O'Connell. I don't get him, but he's going to be huge in a few years time.

Finally...
Chris Moyles - not funny and definitely not clever, and here's a couple of examples of the fat, unfunny sack of shit throwing insults.

Hypocrite.

I know Moyles doesn't cater for everyone's taste, and I can appreciate people not liking him. But don't label this arsehole (and his work) a "critic". It's not - it's an opinionated, rude, in-yer-face article; the very thing that he's criticising![/b]
