Sometimes if you are using a proxy you appear more than once. For example, the AOL proxy seems to have about 10 different IP's, so one minute you will be appearing on 1 IP, the next you will be on another. So 1 AOL user (for example) could appear as 10 guests.

Yeah but the sessions in most cases should get round that should they not? I think most ISPs IPs are similar (although again AOL could be the exception, as usual) - so when phpBB matches an IP with a session it only checks the first 6 or 7 characters, which should be sufficient in most cases.
