I've put in bold who I think deserves to win the award. I've also put a few reasons why, not with all of them though as I can't be arsed...

British male solo artist:
Jamie Cullum, Lemar, Morrissey, The Streets, Will Young.

Excellent comeback

British female solo artist:
Amy Winehouse, Jamelia, Joss Stone, Natasha Bedingfield, PJ Harvey.

For 'The Letter' and her stuff with Josh Holme

British album:
Franz Ferdinand - Franz Ferdinand, Keane - Hopes and Fears, Muse - Absolution, Snow Patrol - Final Straw, The Streets - A Grand Don't Come For Free.

I usually buy an album if it has 3 or 4 decent tracks on it. hopes and fears has 7 or 8.

British group:
Franz Ferdinand, Kasabian, Keane, Muse, Snow Patrol.

Where are Razorlight, The Music and The Ordinary Boys? Kasabian bring something different to the table.

British single:
Band Aid 20 - Do They Know It's Christmas?, Jamelia - Thank You, LMC vs U2 - Take Me To The Clouds Above, Shapeshifters - Lola's Theme, Will Young - Your Game, George Michael - Amazing, Keane - Everybody's Changing, Natasha Bedingfield - These Words, The Streets - Dry Your Eyes, Sugababes - In The Middle.
(Voted for by commercial radio listeners)

British rock act:
Franz Ferdinand, Kasabian, Muse, Snow Patrol, The Libertines.(Chosen by Kerrang! TV viewers)

Deserve it for the ups and downs of the last year.

British urban act:
Dizzee Rascal, Jamelia, Joss Stone, Lemar, The Streets.(Voted for by MTV Base viewers)

British live act:
Franz Ferdinand, Jamie Cullum, Kasabian, Muse, The Libertines.

Best live act around.

British breakthrough artist:
Franz Ferdinand, Joss Stone, Keane, Natasha Bedingfield,The Zutons. (Chosen by BBC Radio 1 listeners)

Tremendous 2004

Pop act:
Avril Lavigne, Girls Aloud, Natasha Bedingfield, McFly, Westlife.
(Promoted by ITV1's CD:UK, The Sun, O2 and Samsung)

They've had a productive year

International male solo artist:
Brian Wilson, Eminem, Kanye West, Tom Waits, Usher.

Smile

International female solo artist:
Alicia Keys, Anastacia, Gwen Stefani, Kelis, Kylie Minogue.

She's had a productive year

International album:
Killers - Hot Fuss, Maroon 5 - Songs About Jane, OutKast - Speakerboxxx/ The Love Below, Scissor Sisters - Scissor Sisters, U2 - How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb.

Varied. Worth a listen.

International group:
Green Day, Maroon 5, OutKast, Scissor Sisters, U2.

International breakthrough act:
Jet, Kanye West, Killers, Maroon 5, Scissor Sisters.

I hate The Killers, although everyone else seems to love them.

Joy Division - Love Will Tear Us Apart, Kate Bush - Wuthering Heights, Queen - We Are Champions, Robbie Williams - Angels, Will Young - Leave Right Now.

The Zutons deserve a nomination for Best Group, For me they keep getting better and better, but no one's listening to them!

I think Franz Ferdinand will win most of the awards they're nominated for, I'd like them to spare the Best Group for Keane though, superb album!

The streets is not a band, the streets in one person, surely you knew that - if you were joking it did not come accross in your post - Yea, it always seem strange that he should have a name that makes it sound as if 'the streets' are a band but apparently it is because his sound is the sound of 'the streets'.

Theres, not a great great difference. One is much much better than the other (Greenday of course) and write much better tunes and have been and will be around longer than McFly but in truth they do both play guitar/bass/drums Rock/pop songs. You might not class Greenday as pop but they are popular and they write catchy tunes with hooks, as do Mcfly. It woudl be strange if a Greenday song sounded like McFly or vice versa but it wouldn't come as completly shocking as it would not be a radical departure.

I cant believe I just wrote all that, I am SO bored!

Technically, 'The Streets' is just Mike Skinner as all of the songs that he produces are coming from 'The Streets'. There aren't just "2 people" although at a gig (or the brits) Skinner performs with another dude and a full band. In a way it's more like they are performing 'The Streets' music as the songs listened to on Streets CD's are not using any of this live band, they are done by Mr. Skinner himself with bits of sample robbery, hook burglary, noise slavery or wholesale piracy.
