I can't wait till they ban smoking in 2006 in Scotland. I was at a pub last night for dinner and it was really smoky. It really pees me off  !

While other peoples smoke doesn't really bother me most of the time, it can be annoying. I think it will be a good thing, it's only polite that you shouldn't smoke around non-smokers anyway, especially if they're eating.

I was in a Chinese restaurant in London not so long ago and this fat american idiot sitting in the table next to us (he'd finished his dinner) lit up his fag and started blowing it all over my chicken satay. Think thats just really selfish :(

i think smoking should be banned in public places.

in pubs we have just got used to it and tolerate it but we shouldnt have to its killing us!!

there shouldnt be non-smoking sections it should be the other way round have a tiny little corner for those who smoke.

smoking is so un-cool these days.

i couldnt care less to be honest... only time it bothers me is when my coat smells after a night out. but i have found this revolutionary new stuff called washing powder.. sorts it out.

Why should I ruin my coats by having to wash them after every night out?

Smoking is so unsociable and to do it in a social environment like a pub or restaurant is just plain rude.

Some people find drunk people unsocialable... ban drinking in restaurants. Oh and ban swearing at the football.

oh and ban taking the piss from this messageboard.

and ban asking to ban things.

Drinking/watching footie/swearing doesn't generally affect the health of everyone in the pub/restaurant around you.

Nah it ain't. But then it depends on your definition of cool. Cool is a subjective term.

Its not seen as a positive hobby to be embarking upon by the masses.

Not even when you are eating or on your clothes and hair the next day after a night out?

I was in Italy last month and was totally amazed at the improvement in bars and clubs after they brought in their smoking ban.

I have been in groups where I was the only nonsmoker and found it not too bad, only time it annoys me is when smokers deliberately blow it in your direction. Upside for me was that when everyone else HAD to go out for a smoke, I could stay in the lovely warm building, and when I wanted to go it, it was well enough ventilated that the smoke didn't bother me. A VERY good thing because smoke makes my eyes sting like hell.

There's nothing worse than going to the pub at lunch and then stinking for the rest of the afternoon. Surely the number of deaths from passive smoking should speak for themselves...

Can't be as bad as what we get, the steward spent all the first half telling fans to sit down last week, even the "stand up if you love City" gag wore thin after a while.

Smoking doesn't particularly bother me apart from when you've been in a pub and you get home and it's all you can smell, I can't see them banning smoking all together though, if they were gonna do that, they would, and should have done it a long time ago!

I think a smoking ban would be good, as it could give lazy people like Chris (Moyles, not the moyles.net one) the motivation to quit.

anyone who thinks smoking will be banned completely is an idiot. what %age of the price of a pack of fags goes to the government?
