he's great but they should never have signed him up if he had the option to quit after one season. Can you imagine the americans letting Patrick Stewart signing up for ST:TNG for just a year?

Yeah. A lot of casual viewers may not bother to keep with the series -after all why get too attached to someone thats leaving

That said, it's very possible the debut peaked interest and figures may drop. Havent heard too many people saying they didn't like it tho, and most of the 1s I have were die hard fans of other doctors... even the godawful McGann 1.

1. cos theyre desperate
2. cos they are guaranteed at least 3 million viewers cos the geeks dont go out on a saturday night - clever scheduling.
