Incendiary by Chris Cleave... topical and controversial (basically it's a letter to Osama Bin Laden about a woman who lost family to terrorist bombs, and released here only a few days before the 1st tube bombs), dark and then humourous in the same scene. First person perspective of a woman written by a bloke, genius. Thats the one I've just finished and it was bloody brilliant.

has anyone read a book by a woman and enjoyed it? I have never found any female author I have enjoyed.

Anyone who says JK Rowling will be ignored.

Does it have to be fiction? I've just finished reading Cosa Nostra, a history of the Sicilian Mafia, which I found fascinating...

I'd much rather read a non-fiction book (apart from Harry Potter which is apparently being ignored), especially history books. I have a book at home which gives a short biography about all the British monarchs which I find fascinating.
